This is Your First Look at the All-New 2022 Honda Civic (w/ Video)

Honda has given the world its first full look at the all-new 2022 Civic. Technically revealed as a Prototype, the eleventh-generation compact sedan takes on a much slicker, more grown-up appearance compared to the current model.

It’s very clear that the 2022 Civic takes on the Honda family look. It’s similar to the recently-launched City in that it’s been cleaned up extensively, relying on less lines and creases than before. Interestingly, it does retain the current model’s fastback styling as well as large footprint, low overall height, and low hip point.

According to Honda, they have made substantial changes to the upper body design to maximize visibility for the driver and passengers, including moving the front roof pillars rearward relative to the driver, to place them more in the visual periphery, and relocating the side mirrors to the doors for a clearer view through the front side windows. The carmaker also confirmed that a hatchback and a high-performance Type R will follow.

Honda has also revealed design sketches of the interior of its all-new compact sedan. Again, it takes on a simpler approach, mirroring the same flat, horizontal dash design in the Accord. It features an all-digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch high-definition tablet-style touchscreen for its infotainment. It will also have a honeycomb accent dotting the dashboard which will conceal the air vents.

Not much as been revealed regarding the Civic’s powertrain, but it’s likely that the 2022 Civic will solider on with the same powertrains, but with tweaks done to improve drivability and economy. It will also have a strengthened body structure not only for improved safety, but for improved refinement and ride as well.

The best part is that the wait won’t be long. The all-new Civic is already being road-tested in Thailand, and with that, the regional launch could come as early as next year.
