2022 MG HS Has The Ford Territory, Geely Coolray In Its Sights. Priced Starting At P 1.158M

While its official Philippine market launch is still two days away, some information regarding MG Philippines’s new compact SUV has started to make its way onto the internet (check out the full specs here).

The most interesting part is actually the price. Previously, we reported that the MG HS would be priced starting at P 1,258,888. Well, in a plot worth of an M. Night Shyamalan movie, The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) decided to adjust the prices lower.

Leaked from the media preview that started today, the MG HS starts at P 1,158,888 for the MG HS Alpha. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line MG HS Trophy retails for P 1,208,888. The prices include a 5-year or 100,000-kilometer warranty whichever comes first, 24/7 roadside assistance, and a free 1-year Periodic Maintenance Service or PMS.

At those prices, the MG HS will now serve as MG Philippines’ flagship SUV. However, it’s understood that retail sales of the similarly-sized RX5 will continue.

Powering the MG HS exclusively for the Philippine market is a turbocharged 1.5-liter direct-injected 4-cylinder engine with 169 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The sole transmission is a 7-speed wet-type dual clutch automatic driving the front wheels.

Key features of the MG HS include 18-inch alloy wheels, standard LED exterior lighting, power tailgate, a “Stargazer” panoramic sunroof, 10-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, ambient interior lighting, power front seats, blind spot monitoring, and tire pressure sensors.

Five colors are available: Brighton Blue, Extreme Speed Red, Meteorite Black, Moon White, and Pearl White.

Our first impressions of the 2022 MG HS will go live once the official embargo lifts on March 17. Meanwhile, check out the full specs here.

  1. Nice Job MG... This is really safer than the 3-Star rated Ford Territory TBH and this HS will take sales because of it's affordability.

  2. Based on the available car price guide here, the HS will start above the RX5 but the TOTL HS is cheaper than the RX5. Quite interesting market positioning I must say

  3. MG continues to challenge (and undercut) 2 of the bestselling crossovers at present: Ford Territory (8,000+ owners) and Geely Coolray (close to 5,000 owners).

  4. This Crossover Is a Good match against the best selling CoolRay. But don't count out the new Facelifted Changan CS35 plus and the cheaper Compact GAC GS4. These two are underrated but better equipped at very low price.
