Aprilia SR GT Arrives In The Philippines For P219K

The long-awaited Aprilia SR GT is finally in the Philippines. Fusing the Italian bike manufacturer’s unmistakable sporty style with practical urban capability, it makes for the ideal companion for everyday riding.

Inspired by enduro bikes, the Aprilia SR GT features a long-travel suspension and increased ground clearance that makes short work of any obstacle. Together with its upright riding position and wide, naked handle bar, it offers control whatever the road surface or condition.

Standing out at the front is the SR GT’s full three-element light cluster. It also has a suspended windscreen and the aforementioned handlebar fixed to the bike through a die-cast aluminum riser with the Aprilia logo. The instrumentation is fully-digital with a large LCD display providing all vehicle data. The Aprilia MIA connectivity system is optional, and once present, allows for smartphone integration via Bluetooth. The instrument panel will also be able to display incoming calls and messages, or play music.

The Aprilia SR GT boasts of a Showa fork with 33 mm stanchions and 122 mm of travel—22 percent more than that of its closest competitor. The rear features two double-acting Showa shock absorbers with coil spring and five-position adjustable pre-load, and travel equating to 102 mm—7 percent more than the competition. This configuration, combined with CBS braking system and a single-channel ABS boosts control, comfort and safety, especially over uneven surfaces. Ground clearance is set at 175 mm.

Powering the SR GT 200 is a brand-new 174 cc single-cylinder which boasts of 17.67 horsepower (13 kW) at 8,500 rpm and 16.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. This is connected to a CVT transmission with a larger clutch to suit the engine’s power curve. Further improving the fuel economy, the SR GT is equipped with an idle start-stop system. Known as RISS (Regulator Inverter Start & Stop System), it does away with the traditional starter, which is replaced with a brushless electrical device installed directly on the crankshaft. The Start & Stop system automatically switches off the engine 1 to 5 seconds after the scooter has stopped (depending on whether the engine has reached its correct operating temperature or not). A slight twist of the throttle is enough to instantly re-start the engine, in total silence, as there is no traditional starter. A 9-liter fuel tank capacity translates to a 350-kilometer cruising range.

The 2022 Aprilia SR GT 200 retails for P 219,000 for the standard version, and P 227,000 for the Sport variant which adds additional aesthetic bits.
