Robb Report Names Porsche 911 GTS As Best Performance 'Daily Driver'

Having evolved into a more distinctive and dynamic model in its current form, the new Porsche 911 GTS earns a coveted spot in Robb Report’s annual Best of Best list. The latest generation of the 911 to sport the GTS badge clinches the title of being the finest Daily Driver in the international luxury publication’s 2022 roster of the most powerful and exciting cars on the market.

In naming the Porsche 911 GTS as Best of Best, Robb Report calls the model “a performance monster that can attack with the best, and yet is also happy to be enlisted for quotidian tasks, genially shop-hopping or making a midnight drive-thru run.” The publication adds Porsche’s “powerful and finely appointed” 911 version “hits the sweet spot within the 911 family,” thanks to more power, bigger brakes, center-lock wheels and sportier bodywork.

The new Porsche 911 GTS’s 3.0-liter, turbocharged, six-cylinder boxer engine received a 30-hp boost over the standard 911 Carrera S, resulting in an output of 480 horsepower. Maximum torque is 570 Nm, a 20 Nm increase over the previous 911 GTS. The ratings allow the new model to sprint from rest to 100 km/h in only 3.3 seconds.

Matched to the power plant are a quicker-shifting eight-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission (a seven-speed manual transmission is also available); GTS-specific suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM); and a high-performance braking system.

The new Porsche 911 GTS’s suspension, derived from the 911 Turbo, meets exacting performance demands. Its PASM, which allows the dampers to respond to dynamic changes at lightning speed, is combined with a sport chassis that is 10 millimeters lower. To further raise performance levels, Porsche engineers fitted the 911 GTS with the high-performance braking system, and 20-inch (front) and 21-inch (rear) black, center-lock alloy wheels of the 911 Turbo. The standard sports exhaust system is responsible for an even more emotive soundtrack, thanks to its GTS-specific setup and removal of some interior insulation.

“It delivers nearly the output of a 911 GT3 but with greater comfort and that docile-at-low-speeds personality, especially when equipped with Porsche’s proven eight-speed PDK automatic transmission,” Robb Report notes.

Distinguishing the looks of the new Porsche 911 GTS are plenty of black or darkened exterior details. The model comes with the Sport Design package, with distinctive trim for the front, rear and the side sills. The headlight rims and daytime running light surrounds are darkened, and the car is fitted with standard LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus). The rear lights are unique to the 911 GTS.

Black is also the dominant color of the Porsche 911 GTS’s interior. Many features made of Race-Tex microfiber create an ambience that is both dynamic and elegant. The latest generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) features additional functions and significantly simplified operation. The touch areas in the Media menu have been enlarged and the option of rearranging the tiles on the home screen is new, bringing numerous improvements in operation and connectivity.

The Porsche 911 GTS is now available for orders at Porsche Centre Manila located at 201 EDSA Mandaluyong City.
