Toyota Motor PH To Launch Ativ HEV This October As Reservations Open

After confirming its local arrival last September 1, Toyota Motor Philippines has officially opened reservations for the all-new Ativ HEV. Interested customers may leave their details here. The launch date has also been set for this October.

The Ativ nameplate has also been confirmed for the Philippine market. The likely scenario here is that the vehicle itself will be badged as the “Vios Ativ,” but it’ll be referred to simply as the “Ativ” in marketing and promotional materials. If this is familiar, it’s the same playbook Toyota Motor Philippines’ done with the Zenix (which has the Innova Zenix badge).

Besides that, Toyota Motor Philippines has confirmed that the Ativ HEV will be the “brand’s most affordable HEV.”

Currently, that title belongs to the Corolla Cross 1.8 G and its P 1,514,000, suggesting that the Ativ HEV will be priced lower than that. An entry-level price of around P 1 million is likely, going up to P 1.2-million. This will put the it squarely in the upper-end of the sub-compact sedan segment going against the likes of the BYD Seal 5 (P 948,000 to P 1,198,000), the Honda City (P 973,000 to P 1,138,000), and the Nissan Almera (P 845,000 to P 1,195,000).

The Ativ HEV (Vios Ativ HEV in its official Department of Energy registry) is officially recognized as a hybrid. This means it will have perks such as number coding exemption. Confirmed in its DOE documentation, it uses the 1.5-liter 2NR-VEX 4-cylinder engine. Also found in the Yaris Cross HEV, it makes a combined output of 111 horsepower—91 horsepower and 121 Nm from the combustion engine and 80 horsepower and 141 Nm from the electric motor. This is mated to an E-CVT, while electrical power is supplied by a lithium-ion battery pack.

In Thailand where the Ativ HEV has already been launched, it comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control with rear vents, and a full suite of Toyota Safety Sense features.

    2. Nah the BYD has better styling and a better interior.

    3. Given that the Vios relies on being an attractive option for cost-conscious buyers, that same mindset will turn people away from the higher priced option the same way that the vast majority of Seal 5 buyers (from what I've gathered) opt for the cheaper Dynamic variant.

  2. I'm curious how much of a chunk the Ativ will take away from the regular Vios's market share. Price gap doesn't seem to be that significant, unlike the Innova and Innova Zenix where there is a significant price gap.

    1. These are speculated prices. The precedent of the high price gap is there but we can definitely give it the benefit of the doubt.

    1. BYD is under the Distributorship of Ayala Mobility, I don't think VIOS' ATIV will equal SEAL Hybrid

  4. I had rode one of these in Thailand. Feels like an improved vios at most. The dark brown inserts inside feels similar to the one in the previous Mazda 2/3 though this one in the Vios is with inferior quality and feel.

  5. It will be tough to compete with the seal 5 DMI dynamic price but this might have better sales because of the legacy brand

  6. Hope they price the entry level HEV below P1.1M. At this price point, it can be well-positioned as the best value for money coding-free daily driver, sans flooding.

  7. Would be nice if this is priced the same as the current 1.5 G variant.

Pag dating po ng January 1, 2026 onwards, the 3rd Generation Toyota Vios is no longer available at the philippine market at in favor po sila sa 4th generation Toyota Vios na IMPORTED from Thailand instead produced locally.

Ang mga variants ng 4th Generation Toyota Vios.

1.5 V HEV Hybrid CVT Automatic
    1.5 G CVT Automatic
    1.5 E CVT Automatic
    1.5 E 6 Speed Manual

    1. So you're saying Toyota is gonna cut jobs in the Philippines? Because that's what's gonna happen if we follow your projection.

    2. Hindi naman po mababawasan ang mga trabahador sa planta, madadagdagan naman po yung other local production unit variants. Toyota Altis, Toyota Lite Ace and Toyota Hiace H300 series.

    3. TMPC will continue to produce the older Toyota Vios J,XE and XLE as they're earning lots of money from it
TMPC ain't gonna manufacture the Corolla Altis,Lite Ace and Hiace H300 in their plant due to cost of production issues.🤣

    4. Kung itutuloy po yung 3rd Generation Toyota Vios, kailangan po madagdagan ng Side and Curtain Airbags for added safety.

Puwede naman po i-export sa Canada and United States of America yung Toyota Vios.

Another manufacured locally here in the Philippines for additional like Toyota Fortuner, Toyota Hilux amd Toyota Zenix as well.

    5. DNGA vehicles can't be exported North American,Australian and European markets due to safety issues

    6. @anonymous 9:47

Yung Toyota Vios 3rd Generation XP150 puwede po i export sa North America na gawa sa Pilipinas. Iyan po ang meaning ko dun, kungbaga Hot Car na ngayon si Toyota Vios XP150 3rd Generation. Ang price range po ng Toyota Vios XP150 3rd Generation is $13,400 to $19,600 US Dollars.

    7. Everyone knows Vios XP150 will never ever be exported nor sold in America due to safety and quality concerns.
Itigil mo nayang fake information mo dahil hindi pang American nor European markets ang Vios XP150 same goes to other DNGA vehicles like the Wigo,Raize,Yaris Cross and Avanza/Veloz dahil pang 3rd world markets lang yan.

  10. I think for most pricing is the main consideration but also the Toyota brand equity is still a factor. Remember when Geely launched the Emgrand. It was well priced bigger body more power and better kit, a lot still went with Vios. So maybe this will sell well except that the bestseller would be the ice version

    1. The Vios has had decades of a headstart to build brand awareness and the infrastructure to go with it so any new challengers won't easily take that market share away (and the challenging companies know that).

The thing for Toyota (and any legacy brand, really) is that brand equity is essentially goodwill that, like a currency, can run out if change (whether in pricing, amenities, etc.) is warranted but no (or not enough) effort is being put in towards meeting public expectations.

Toyota has very publicly made an effort to not look 'boring' and has, to an extent, succeeded in doing that with their exterior designs but under those good looks are many a thing that many people are increasingly seeing as boring. And being boring is the real killer of brand equity.
