Toyota is taking a different approach to hype up its participation at this year’s Japan Mobility Show 2025 (formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show). Instead of announcing their display theme and all that, the carmaker is giving cryptic daily updates through a special microsite.
The microsite indicates that a “new project” is on the way. Scrolling through the various one-liners, it says that Toyota hasn’t even communicated what this new project is to its very own dealers nor can it answer questions from the public at this time (obviously).
What the site does contain is a line-up of the Toyota Group’s five main brands—Toyota, Lexus, Century, Gazoo Racing, and Daihatsu. This indicates perhaps the possibility of seeing Toyota spin off the Gazoo Racing and Century brands, possibly to make the Group’s setup possibly become a house of brands, similar to what JLR has done with its marques.
It’s also a sign perhaps that Toyota will have something big or substantial to show in relation to these brands. Rumors include the possibility of seeing a revival of the Celica and/or MR2 for Toyota; a successor for the LFA for Lexus (supposedly called the LFR) and a unique sister car that’ll become Gazoo Racing’s first bespoke model. Daihatsu might even preview the all-new Copen based on the S-FR Concept which will offer dimensions and power close to that of a Mazda MX-5.
Whatever the case, Toyota’s very own chairman, Akio Toyoda got into the action and commented on the site’s original layout where it showed the Toyota logo on top, while the Century and Lexus logos on the second tier, and the Gazoo Racing and Daihatsu logos on the third tier. In response, the social media team reoriented the logos a day later, showing them now in a horizontal line showing that the Toyota Group will give importance to all its brands, as it should be.
CarGuide.PH will be at this year’s Japan Mobility Show.

Exciting times for the Toyota Group.
