Coming from the Lexus Electrified Sport—a concept car shown first way back in 2022 (it also made its way to Manila in 2024), Lexus made a surprise splash at the Quail during Monterey Car Week in Carmel, California with the Lexus Sport Concept.
Officially thin on details, Lexus only had this to say about the new concept:
The progressively styled, future-focused yet truly authentic sportscar signals the way forward for Lexus design. This inspiring concept car features a wide, low-profile two-door form that blends dynamic and emotional elements into a vision for a next-generation sports car.
Some of the interesting bits of the Lexus Sport Concept include exhaust pipes that jut under the large wing, huge vents on the rear (this mirrors the LFA), and four small fans on the center high-mount stop lamp (could this be a built-in drone?).
Curiously, Lexus did drop the words, “Electrified” for this concept car hinting the possibility that it won’t be powered purely by electrons.
Word has it that the Lexus Sport Concept will preview the Lexus LFA’s successor—known currently in motoring circles as the “LFR.”
Lexus is said to be benchmarking the Mercedes-AMG GT R during the development phase and is reportedly packing a twin-turbo V8 engine, and of course, rear-wheel drive. Remarkably, it’ll also spawn a Toyota version, where it’s rumored to become a unique Gazoo Racing model.
It is currently unknown whether Toyota will drop the high-performance battery electric version of its supercar project, or whether it will coexist with this surprise combustion engine version.

This is so exciting news!
