There are a lot of ways to gain knowledge these days. The question is, how quickly can you learn the new stuff in this constantly changing landscape. Sure, there are modern sources like YouTube but who’s teaching? Are you sure of their expertise on the subject?
Schaeffler aims to rectify that with the new REPXPERT Mobile Training Van. This allows them to get closer to those who need the technical training and do it with minimal compromise. It is a small classroom on wheels with enough room for a small session, complete with space for samples and presentations.
Those on the consumer side may not know them, but Schaeffler is one of the leading OEM suppliers in the world. The company traces its roots way back in 1946 and had their first breakthrough in bearings in the 1950s, the first patent of which was granted to them for creating the cage-guided needle roller bearing.
In the Philippines, they started as far back as 1989 and is now a consistent Original Equipment Manufacturer for some automotive brands. In fact, they received a Performance Award in 2018 from Japanese OEMs for quality, delivery, and safety. They serve 6 major passenger car brands and 2-wheeler brands combined. Despite their expertise in bearings, Schaeffler also manufactures other automotive components for the clutch, steering, brakes, even batteries and wipers among others.
However, the REPXPERT Mobile Training Van will focus on independent workshops. The REPXPERT program ensures the accredited Schaeffler technicians will impart these knowledge and expertise onto local mechanics who will avail of their service. Their training will focus on the core of vehicle repair which are engine solutions, transmission, and chassis. The program also includes a digital support in the form of an online portal for all technical services and information, special tools, and even digital marketing for your own workshop.
The program was rolled out in India back in 2019 and in Thailand just last year prior to its introduction here in the Philippines. In the Land of Smiles, they already did 15 roadshow activities, 28 training sessions, 25 provinces in 65 activity days, 1,300+ REPXPERT app downloads and covered more than 9,500 kilometers.
Schaeffler Philippines will go to Mindanao, specifically Davao, for the first session of the REPXPERT Mobile Training Van. They said the demand for expert training is there, especially since it's a hard market to reach. In the next 30 days, they plan on covering 5,000 kilometers with 15 provinces.
