Tired of Off-Road Builds? How About This Track-Inspired Ford Ranger MS-RT Then?

When one thinks of a “motorsports-inspired” pickup truck, the first thing that comes to mind would be rally raid, and the popularity of the Ford Ranger Raptor is proof of that. But what if you wanted something more inspired by circuit racing? Well, Ford has you covered on that too with its new Ranger MS-RT.

Destined for Europe, the Ranger MS-RT is a foil to the Ranger Raptor in that it’s a “street-focused” pickup truck.

Developed in partnership with vehicle design specialists MS-RT, a qualified vehicle modifier that works with Ford’s motorsports partner, the Ranger MS-RT starts with a Ranger Wildtrak. It then gets a new bumper, extended wheel arches, side skirts, and an integrated rear aero bar. From there, it also gets 20-inch OZ Racing wheels and carbon fiber effect trim on the grille and mirror caps.

Inside, the Ranger MS-RT gets orange contrast to its leather seats, and MS-RT floor mats and scuff plates.

Backing up its sporty looks, there’s only one engine available and it’s the one shared with its off-road-centric sibling: the 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel making 213 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Fitted with the 10-speed automatic, it beats the Ranger Raptor in terms of payload—1,098 kilograms, while still being able to tow 3,500 kilograms.

While the engine is stock, MS-RT did fit a Maxhaust app-controlled exhaust system.

The Ranger MS-RT is, for now, strictly a Ford Europe product which goes on sale there in the middle of the year.
