  1. even at that price they don't sell. st up id veedub management here- instead of bringing in marquee vehicles they bring in glorified taxicabs for rural China and market them they're as good as the ones Germany brings out. lul niyo.

  2. VW Philippines is really struggling (441 vehicles sold for the whole of 2021, in spite of huge discounts started last year).
    2 suggestions if I may:
    1. Offer both global models and China-sourced models (allow the buyers to decide)
    2. Add more dealerships (just like what AC Motors did w Kia)

    1. wow! I'm surprised there's 441 people would spend money on these cars! Well maybe some are people who work there, or some Ayala subsidiary fleets them....

  3. Lamando at Php1.6M+ even after discount? Good luck! Even at around Php1.3M - I may ONLY consider this.

    1. I agree. Maxus is really not doing well in our country. AC Motors should strengthen VW Phils. They should also focus more on Isuzu and Honda.

    2. Maxus vehicles are actually reliable, affordable and with higher quality..Majority of Maxus dealerships are owned by Ayala Group.
Volkswagen dealership in Mandaluyong was replaced by a Maxus and Kia dealership.

  5. But would you still buy the entry level manual Santana knowing that it has been axed from the lineup?

The targets are first timers or people with limited budget. These kinds are likely to keep the vehicle for several years. It's a very risky proposition because you're not even sure if technical support and spare parts will be available for years to come. And heaven help you if you get a lemon.

    1. I agree. Worrisome to purchase a vehicle that will soon be discontinued by the manufacturer. VW SAIC will focus more on SUVs/crossovers such as the T Cross.
      - a sad VW fan here.

    2. There are abundant supply of parts for Santana as its a 10 year old model popular in China.
Volkswagen only got two SUVs that are so-called affordable and still hard to sell like the underpowered T-Cross and Tharu/Taos which is expected to be priced at 1.6 Million Pesos or less..VW Philippines won't sell the Tiguan as its very expensive and bland so does the aging Teramont which is priced like a Subaru Evoltis.

    3. its actually insulting that AC motors think a badge and cheap sticker price mapapabili na ang Pinoy budget buyer. Pinoys are smarter than that, they will also look at reliability, parts availability, etc.

in short, something like a vios, mirage or even an accent.

  6. Very expensive Volkswagen global models priced like a Merc and BMW won't help them as it'll rot in dealerships.

    1. there's actually China made marquee VW models like the Golf, Jetta, etc... our ASEAN and Taiwanese neighbors have a brisk VW network and they DO NOT sell these models AC sells. and they're not priced like MB and BM.

  7. As long as the Santana is being offered as bare and boring as it is, it won't sell. The vehicle quality is good but it is not enough as more pinoys are looking for value for their hard earned money. Aside from the existing worries regarding maintenance and the small number of showrooms/service centers in the country, the bare lackluster specs of the vehicle is the main factor. MG 5 is selling well because of the price and specs (value for money) and other chinese brands too. I really agree that VW should focus on global models instead and do not be confused with your market as a premium brand here in the country. May the force be with you VW!

  8. Do all these mean that AC Motors will soon give up on the distributorship of VW vehicles?
