Kia unveils the all-new, second-generation Seltos sub-compact SUV. A bold evolution of one of Kia’s key models, the all-new Seltos continues the brand’s design leadership while also boasting refined practicality and advanced usability.
The Seltos rides on Kia’s K3 platform which has been enhanced with increased rigidity, noise insulation, and optimized chassis tuning for improved stability and handling. It rides either on a torsion beam axle (2WD) or rear independent multi-link suspension (AWD). The all-wheel drive models come with Terrain Mode with settings for Snow, Mud, and Sand. A Drive Mode Select (Eco, Normal, Sport) adapts performance for a diverse range of driving conditions.
At launch, it’ll come with three gasoline powertrains. The base is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder making 149 horsepower and 179 Nm of torque. This is followed by two turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engines producing either 180 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque or 193 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. Depending on the exact drivetrain, transmission options are varied—from a 6-speed manual, 6- or 7-speed dual clutch automatic, a CVT, or an 8-speed automatic.
By next year, Kia has also confirmed that a hybrid variant will also join the Seltos range for the first time. Apart from bringing higher efficiency and usability, it will have Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality allowing it to power external devices. It will also have Smart Regenerative Braking 3.0 which automatically adjusts regen braking based on traffic flow and navigation data.
The all-new Seltos is 4,430 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, and 1,600 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,690 mm. Dimensionally, it’s 45 mm longer with a wheelbase stretched by 60 mm compared to the current Seltos. Most of the room has gone to the second row with the leg room growing to 990 mm (from 965 mm). Cargo space has also grown from its current 498 liters to 536 liters.
Kia puts all this space to good use with a modern, connected, and intelligently optimized cabin. A low, horizontal dashboard enhances forward visibility and creates a sense of openness, while optimized packaging ensures generous headroom and legroom for all passengers. The adoption of a column-type Shift-by-Wire (SBW) system frees up the center console, enhancing functionality and contributing to a more open cabin environment. Meanwhile, an uncluttered layout with premium materials convey both modernity and comfort throughout the interior.
Some of the interior highlights include a wide panoramic sunroof, customizable 64-color mood lighting, second-row reclining seats (24 degrees of adjustment), Harman Kardon or Bose sound systems, and access to the Kia Connect Store for personalized entertainment options.
Regarding infotainment, the Seltos adopts the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit or ccNC system. This OTA updatable system gives it a combined 30 inches of display space composed of dual 12.3-inch screens and a 5-inch HVAC control screen. Wireless charging is available, but for those who prefer old-fashioned cables, the USB Type C offers up to 100 watts of power, enough to juice up laptops.
As for design, the Seltos continues with Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy. Here, stylists manage to combine rugged SUV strength with refined modernity. Its wider stance and use of clean, geometric surfaces express confidence from every angle.
At the front, there’s a wider grille with Kia’s star map lighting signature. To the side, are flush door handles, a floating roofline, and a strong shoulder contour mixed with contrasting cladding and satin silver accents. Wheel sizes range from 16 to 19 inches in diameter. At the back are vertical taillights that extend across the tailgate to emphasize width and stability.
For safety, the Seltos has increased use of ultra-high-strength steel and hot-stamped steel. A full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems is also available.
Kia says that the increased size and specification of the Seltos will come with a corresponding bump in prices. It will slot between the Niro and the Sportage in the brand’s global line-up. It will roll starting in India first this December. It will be followed by launches in Korea, North America, Europe, and China throughout 2026.
