Porsche Philippines is now making the Manthey Kit available for the latest 911 GT3. Sitting atop the already impressive Weissach package, which helped the 911 GT3 (992.2) set the fastest lap time at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife with a manual transmission equipped production car, the Manthey Kit significantly increases downforce for higher cornering speeds.
The Manthey Kit transforms the entire 911 GT3’s underbody into a continuous aerodynamic element. The air deflector elements on the underbody (also known as turning vanes) have been extended by one meter, to 1.5 m. This enables them to generate additional downforce in a particularly efficient manner. In addition, the luggage compartment floor of the production vehicle now has a cover, creating a completely smooth underbody.
The front lip has been redesigned and extended forward by 12 millimeters. Special front diffusor fins in the front underbody and flaps attached to the sides of the vehicle increase downforce at the front axle. The wing of the 911 GT3 with swan-neck mounts is wider and now features a Gurney flap. The end plates have been enlarged and are visibly curved inwards to achieve optimal airflow. The rear diffuser, featuring longer fins, increases downforce without increasing drag.
The carbon-fiber wheel covers (aerodiscs) at the rear reduce drag, completing the interaction of all the car’s aerodynamic components to optimize airflow and maximize overall efficiency. Overall, downforce is greatly increased while drag remains the same. At 285 km/h, the 911 GT3 with Manthey Kit in road mode produces 355 kilograms of total downforce. In circuit mode, which must not be used on public roads, the downforce increases to 540 kilograms at 285 km/h.
Together with Manthey, Porsche has developed a special four-way coil over suspension for the 911 GT3 that can be adapted for circuit use. The suspension struts are four-way adjustable, and the rebound and compression can be adjusted without tools. The moderately adjusted spring rates (plus 10 percent on the front axle compared to the predecessor model with the Manthey Kit) contribute to improved handling at the limit and are adapted to the significantly higher downforce values. The optimized circuit suspension increases mechanical grip and makes the car even more stable, especially when driving over curbs.
Braided steel brake lines are included as standard in the kit. This guarantees very precise pressure and optimum brake control. As an option, special racing brake pads for the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system are available for the Porsche GT3 with Manthey Kit as are lightweight 20- and 21-inch forged wheels.
Powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine producing 510 horsepower, the GT3 bettered the previous record holder by more than 9.5 seconds, despite competing against cars with higher peak output. The 911 GT3 equipped with the Weissach package lapped the 20.832-kilometer circuit in 6 minutes and 56.294 seconds. With the Manthey Kit, the time drops further to 6 minutes 52.981 seconds.
The Porsche 911 GT3 (equipped either with the Weissach or Manthey package) is now available for orders at Porsche Center Philippines.
