New car sales ended flat in 2025 with 463,646 units sold based on the full year data released by members of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA). 2025’s full-year figure is 0.8 percent lower than 2024’s 467,252.
If there’s a silver lining, once sales data is combined with non-CAMPI and TMA members, such as BYD, new vehicle sales reached 491,395 units—a 3.7 percent growth versus 2024’s 473,842 units.
According to a statement released by CAMPI, the overall industry delivered a modest growth last year due to the overall unfavorable market environment during the second half caused by a number of factors such as the reimposition of excise tax on pick-up trucks and several natural calamities experienced across the country.
Broken down, 92,924 Passenger Cars were sold accounting for 20.04%, a year-on-year decline of 23.1 percent, while Commercial Vehicles accounted for 79.96% of the market with 370,722 units—a 7 percent increase versus 2024.

That said, December 2025 registered 47,371 units sold, making it the strongest monthly performance since 2017.
“We attribute last year’s achievement to the aggressive promotional campaigns and the new product introductions from the various car brands which expanded consumer options especially in electrified and commercial vehicle segments," said Jose Maria Atienza, president of CAMPI.
Electrified vehicles (xEVs) made a significant impact with 58,905 units sold, accounting for 12 percent of the 2025 market from only 5.5 percent the previous year. Combined Battery Electric (BEV), Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) and Hybrid Electric (HEV) vehicle sales grew 142.5 percent versus 2024. This, says Atienza, highlights the public's growing acceptance and demand for electrified technologies.
Other sub-segments such as the one-ton+ Multi-Purpose Vehicles, also contributed positively to the industry’s 2025 performance, with a 76.6 percent increase compared to 2024. Models in this category include Toyota Tamaraw, Mitsubishi L300, and Isuzu Traviz, among others.
This is a developing story.
