Alpina Is Now Officially A Part Of The BMW Group

After announcing its purchase way back in 2022, it’s now official: Alpina is now known as BMW Alpina.

Vehicle manufacturing operations at Alpina’s headquarters in Buchloe has ended with only service, parts, and accessories continuing. BMW Alpina will now be a new exclusive brand and will retain an independent personality within the BMW Group.

For that, BMW Alpina will focus on a “unique balance of maximum performance and superior ride comfort, combined with hallmark driving characteristics. This is complemented by an exclusive portfolio of bespoke options and custom materials along with unmistakable details.”

And while it hasn’t been confirmed officially, BMW Alpina is reported to become a bridge between BMW and Rolls-Royce, with a focus on bespoke luxury like what Mercedes-Benz has done with Maybach.

In their official press release, BMW has said that BMW Alpina will offer “a remarkable portfolio of bespoke options ensuring that every BMW Alpina has its own, unmistakable character.” Moreover, they say that “each vehicle will be an exclusive object for connoisseurs in pursuit of the extraordinary, without compromises on performance, comfort and individuality.”

Founded in 1965 by Burkard Bovensiepen, Alpina has been developing, manufacturing, and racing modified BMWs ever since. Before becoming an official member of the BMW Group, they’re often seen as an alternative to BMW M cars offering high levels of performance with stealthy styling, focused on luxury.
