The Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) has announced the category winners of its 2026 edition following an evaluation process carried out by its international jury, made up of 84 women motoring journalists from 54 countries. All the winning vehicles represent excellence in their respective segments for safety, driving performance, technology, comfort, overall performance, and value for money.

A total of 55 candidates competed in this 15th edition of the WWCOTY awards. All eligible vehicles had to be new models launched in at least two continents or 40 countries between January and December 2025.

After driving thousands of kilometers and carrying out in-depth evaluations of each candidate, the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year has selected the following vehicles as the best in the world in their respective categories.
  • Nissan Leaf – Compact Car
  • Skoda Elroq – Compact SUV
  • Mercedes-Benz CLA – Large Car
  • Hyundai Ioniq 9 – Large SUV
  • Toyota 4Runner – 4x4
  • Lamborghini Temerario – Performance Car
The six category winners will now advance to the final round, where the overall Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year title will be decided. The ultimate Car of the Year winner will be announced on March 5, three days before International Women’s Day on March 8.

Ahead, the WWCOTY bestowed two special awards: Renault bagged the Best Tech Award and Ford received the Sandy Myhre Award.

For Renault, it has developed electric platforms such as Amp Small and Amp Medium, which optimize weight, space, and efficiency compared with combustion-based architectures. The brand stands out for integrating electric technology, software, and driver assistance systems in a practical, user-friendly way that enhances everyday usability. Renault has also succeeded in democratizing advanced technology derived from Formula 1.

Meanwhile, the Sandy Myhre Award which recognizes a brand’s commitment to women, has been presented to Ford for its clear and sustained focus on gender equality within its corporate structure. The company has promoted female leadership programs, active work-life balance policies, and equality plans across multiple markets, resulting in a steady increase in women in technical, engineering, and senior management positions.
