Safety Comes Standard With Every Maxus G50

The dizzying array of choices in the MPV segment can sometimes cause buyers to lose sight of what’s important. As family-oriented vehicles, MPVs should have safety built in as standard; a fact reiterated by Maxus Philippines and their G50.

Already one of our Top 5 Picks, the Maxus G50 provides exceptional space, comfort, versatility, and convenience. More importantly, however, it has safety baked in from the entry-level Comfort variant, all the way to the top-of-the-line Premium.

Despite what other people may think (Maxus included), the Comfort variant isn’t new. It was introduced quietly into the line-up in 2021. What is new, however, is how they’re highlighting beyond the usual above-price convenience features the G50 is already known for.

Safety comes standard with the 1.3 Comfort coming already with Electronic Stability Program and rear parking sensors as standard (The Elite and Premium get 360-degree cameras as well as front sensors). A tire pressure monitoring system is equipped across all variants as well.

For the uninitiated, ESP is a holistic system that integrates and lords over other systems such as anti-lock brakes (ABS with EBD), traction control (TCS), and even hill start assist (HSA). Using an advanced computer control module, it can help control a car’s entire movement. It helps stabilize a car during cornering if it turns more or less than desired. It also assists in maintaining traction while accelerating through loose or slippery road conditions. VSA does this by regulating engine output and selectively applying the brakes.

And though they are often interchanged in common lingo, VSA and traction control are not the same. Traction control only works in the longitudinal or driving direction while VSA also helps drivers cope with lateral or sideways movement. It’s the lateral movement that often causes instability. In addition, traction control only controls wheel spin but does not affect vehicle direction—thus if you plow through a corner too fast, it won’t help you. However, VSA does control vehicle direction and can use traction control as a means to help you pointed in the right direction.

On top of vehicle safety, the G50 comes with Maxus’ 5 VehiCare Programs—a 5-year / 100,000-kilometer warranty (whichever comes first), 5-year free 24/7 emergency roadside assistance; reliable parts management system and parts stock for up to five months; onsite and virtual product support with home service and pick-up and delivery; and maintenance costs that are 40 percent lower compared to other brands for the first five years.

For families and even business-minded consumers, these could make the G50 the ideal platform for any occasion, be it a daily transporter or for leisure trips with the extended family.

  2. Sayang ang Maxus G50, very okay na sana, kaya lang based on several reviews jerky daw ang transmission :( Based din on reviews, better ang driving experience sa GAC GN6 at Geely Okavango.
