Isuzu PH Mobilizes Relief Operation For Abra Earthquake Victims

Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC), in partnership with Isuzu Isabela - one of the dealers under by B.M. Domingo Motor Sales Inc. (BMD Motors), took the initiative to organize a relief operation in Abra Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) to extend aid to the displaced families in Abra province after the strong magnitude 7 earthquake that recently struck provinces in northwestern Luzon and adjacent areas including Metro Manila last July 27, 2022.

It has been a week after the massive quake, but many people from the mountainous province of Abra are still being evacuated due to impending danger of more landslides and collapse of unstable structures brought about by the earthquake. The province is slowly recuperating with assistance from different government bodies, international sources, and private companies such as Isuzu Philippines Corporation.

IPC team headed by Ms. Imelda Bernas – Administration Division Head and Mr. Robert Carlos – Sales Assistant Division Head and Isuzu Isabela Operations Manager – Mr. Antonio Benito “Butch” Mijares travelled to Bangued, Abra to deliver relief goods such as food, water and hygiene kits to 250 families currently settling in the nearby evacuation center. The turnover of relief goods was done in Operation Center (OPCEN) warehouse 1 PDRRMO, Calaba, Bangued, Abra wherein incoming supplies are being sorted out before handing over to the evacuees. Hot meals good for 300 people were also distributed among evacuees during the relief operation.

According to Ms. Cherish Lantano - representative from Provincial Government of Abra, they appreciate donations from private companies who go the extra mile just to give assistance to the victims of earthquake. Although a week has already passed, the aftermath of the devastative quake urges people from different barangays to keep coming to the evacuation centers to seek shelter in fear of unstable infrastructures.

IPC’s partner for this relief operation, BMD Motors, is celebrating their 45th year anniversary this month of August. Living up to Isuzu’s vision and tagline, BMD Motors is active in organizing CSR activities. Meanwhile, as part of IPC’s Road to Progress vision, the company also remains committed to help in times of emergency because volunteerism has always been instilled in Isuzu DNA. IPC considers being able to provide aid to communities, especially in times of calamities, their responsibility to the society and country.

  1. Kudos to Isuzu Ph for providing assistance to the communities affected by the earthquake. This is after giving a donation to a Mindanao hospital. God bless the company.
