Honda Shows Off BR-V 7-Seater Small Crossover in Indonesia

So what do you get when you mix two of the hottest segments in the ASEAN car market? The Honda BR-V. Shown in prototype form at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2015, the BR-V combines the Mobilio’s 7-seater capability (and basic body shape) with a raised ground clearance.

Currently shown as a prototype, the BR-V is scheduled for production in early 2016 with sales in Indonesia first followed by other countries, which may include the Philippines. The BR-V is said to combine SUV appearance with the utility and spaciousness of an MPV. So, basically, it’s the lovechild of the HR-V and the Mobilio.

Although the BR-V has the Mobilio’s basic body structure, it does gain a much more aggressive front clip with angular headlights, bumpers, and the Solid Wing Face. Aside from the higher ground clearance, it has roof rails across all grades, LED tail lamps, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it has dual zone air conditioning, a standard multi-information display, and available seating for up to 7 adults.

Underneath, it shares the Mobilio’s 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine producing 120 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or Earth Dreams CVT transmission.

In terms of safety, it comes with Dual SRS airbags, ABS, VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), and Hill Start Assist.

Hopefully Honda Cars Philippines would bring in the BR-V in the country even if the brand’s model names are all starting to sound the same: BR-V, HR-V, CR-V, CR-Z. The BR-V will first be assembled in Honda’s Indonesia factory and is expected to retail there with a price range of Rp. 230 to 265 million or (~P 776,000 to ~P 894,000).

  1. Wow! At that price it will canibalize BR-V, Mobilio, and CR-V! Ecosport will not stand a chance.

    1. I hope it would be below 900K if ever it comes here in the Philippines. But I think the price projected in the article is Indonesia price where the vehicle was produced... We have to factor in shipping and taxes once it arrives here if ever.
IMHO this will be more in the price bracket of Hyundai's I20.

  4. A lot better looking than the Mobilio. Bring this here and ditch the Mobilio. I suspect that's exactly what they're planning, a replacement for that much maligned critter.

    1. Well the only ones having issues with Mobilio are those... who don't own them.. :)

    2. well it's ugly, that's the issue.. and if you own one good for you, nobody's saying you're wrong.

    3. Somehow, Honda bringing this to the PH kind of worries me. I think they have too many models in the market already, and some already overlapping in terms of the target buyers. (i.e. Amaze vs City) BR-V vs Mobilio is bound to follow suit.

Won't early adopters feel a bit afraid/sad that this new model might phase out the Mobilio?

  5. This is good for some of those who used to have crv but wants a 7 seater but not appealing to get a mobilio. BRV will be a good addition to honda's list

  6. BR-V == Bakya Recreational - Vehicle. Oh, may sagot na para dun sa Honda ricer fanb0is na pinipilit sa subcompact segment bumili pero naliliitan kuno sa cabin & cargo space. Lolz.

    2. You're a persistent dumbass aren't you?

  7. It looks more like a raised station wagon.
Much better looking than the Mobilio though.

    1. Eh talagang matatalo yan ng EVEREST kasi ibang segment 'yun! Basa-basa din muna pag may time, wag puro nganga. SUV ang EVEREST, COMPACT CROSSOVER lang to. ECOSPORT ang tinatapatan nito

  14. it was already launched last sept 15, 2016. it's pricing is 1M to 1.15M (speculative atm, but will range around that). basically, it's a mobilio-after-plastic-surgery-on-high-heels.

    1. expensive? What are the odds of me choosing this over, let's say innova? Let's discuss... For one, the pricing is already a bit off and expensive. For me I'd choose innova, what do you think?
