Nissan Philippines Previews Juke (w/ Specs)

Just in time with its new brand campaign, “Rediscover Excitement” as well as its second anniversary as part of the global Nissan family, Nissan Philippines, Inc. brings to market the Juke sports sub-compact crossover. Featuring a unique exterior design, motorbike inspired cabin, and dynamic handling, the Juke is now available for reservations at all Nissan dealerships nationwide with deliveries to start by January 2016.

Built to thrill, the made-in-Japan Nissan Juke is designed to capture attention because of its fun and bold exterior design. Penned with the ROBIOTIC design concept, it takes the mechanical (ROBO) and living body (BIO) to produce a muscular and agile exterior and an interior that combines mechanical precision with dynamic movement.

It commands attention with its split-design headlamp cluster which vertically separates the park lights, main lamps, and fog lamps. It has the trademark boomerang-shaped LED combination lamps set high on the hood followed by the large round headlights located below the grille. The signature V-grille is present as is an under guard intake that emphasizes the Juke’s sportiness.

The raked front pillars and large windshield give excellent visibility all around while a sloped rear roofline along with muscular lower body sides emphasizes its strength and sportiness. Hidden door handles add to the coupe-like feel as do the standard 17-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the Juke features a motorbike inspired interior that starts with the hooded gauges and gas-tank inspired center console. Sporty fabric seats for the driver and front passenger give excellent lateral support. The Juke also offers seating capacity of up to five adults as well as a 60/40 split-folding rear seat to accommodate large cargo.

Front and center to the Juke experience is the Integrated Control System or I-CON. This versatile, multi-colored system allows the driver to change the drive and climate modes with a single touch. The Drive mode features three different settings: Normal, Sport, and Eco to deliver maximized performance or fuel efficiency. And a toggle of a switch, the same system can control temperature settings and air flow preferences.

Nissan Philippines is offering the Juke with a single variant: the 1.6 Upper CVT. This means, it has the HR16DE engine under the hood. It makes 116 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 154 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm good perfect for everyday driving duties. Mated to this engine is Nissan’s award-winning Xtronic CVT transmission. The Juke also comes with cruise control as standard.

For fun and stability through twisty roads, the front-wheel drive Juke has front independent MacPherson Struts coupled with a rear torsion beam axle. As fun and dynamic as it is, the Juke also comes with a complete array of safety equipment such as dual SRS airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist as well as rear parking camera.

The Juke comes in four fun colors: Red Alert, Solar Yellow, Pearl White, and Black Obsidian with a retail price of P 980,000.

    1. isang variant lang.

    2. Ecosport - Absolute garbage. Only useful if you want something small that can wade floods. Otherwise the Ecosport needs to be renamed because its acceleration is atrocious (read: SLOW AS FUCK), handles like a piece of shit and is small. Ecoturd is more like it. The Ecoturd is alone in its segment of tall eco cars.

HR-V - Much bigger than the Juke inside. Slightly overpriced though at P1.2M because it's slow as fuck compared to its main competition, the 2.0 XV and 1.6 turbodiesel Soul.

    3. Watch your language. I'll ban your IP address if you continue to use that kind of language here.

      Delete
    4. i'd pick the ecosport over the soul all year round just on the basis of looks. damn that's one ugly car!

      Delete
    5. Tumingin ka muna sa salamin para malaman mo ung definition ng "UGLY". hahah

      Delete
    6. Uly, you can try. But it will be in vain. Most people are using dynamic IPs. Instead of banning people who say it straight up work on making more objective reviews. The fact is the Ecosport is crap. Drives like crap. You buy it because it's the cheapest car with that kind of ground clearance and flood wading capability. Doesn't change the fact that it's crap to drive.

Anon4, that "ugly Soul" will smoke all its B-segment competitors in a drag race which include the HR-V, XV and this Juke. You ever wonder why Monteros and Trailblazers run much faster than most petrol cars on the road? The Soul has even better power to weight because it's much lighter. A turbo diesel is not something you take lightly.

    7. Bakit ginawa ba sila for racing? Kaya nga mini SUV eh di maliit.... ang hina mo naman umiintindi

    8. Compared to TopGear's blatantly obvious advertorials and Autoindustriya's painful high school-level writing, I find Uly's reviews relatively objective. His opinions on a vehicle have more weight to me than from any other local reviewer.

I have to agree on those assessments of the EcoSport and the Soul though. The latter truly is a car designed for developing countries.

  2. ang pangit sa juke ay para syang nakatingala pag tiningnan sa sideview. parang rear heavy yun likod and tilted pataas yun front nya.. mazda CX3 kelan ba u lalabas?.. save the day for B-segment CUVs please!

  5. Meron kaya tong Cruise control, 360 degrees view.... sana meron

    1. Cruise control yes. 360-degree camera no. It has a rear back-up camera.

  6. I read from other reviews that the cabin space of this is really tight

    1. Yup. It's likely good for 4. Tighter than a Yaris or Jazz.

      Delete
  7. There's body cladding even on the wheel arches.
Other more expensive SUV's do not have that.
It could do with a sunroof to make the interior feel less claustrophobic.

  8. Will be popular with college students and young hipsters

    ReplyDelete

    1. It might not because the design is anonymous and immature.

  9. another fail for Nissan. what a joke!

Instead of this, why not the Rogue or Pathfinder???

    1. Joke mo mukha mo! fail ka dyan, parang sucessful ka naman.

      Delete
    2. The Rogue is available locally but it is called the X-Trail. I doubt Nissan will ever bring the Pathfinder locally as sales of similar models (Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Mazda CX9) are not that good also.

    3. hindi pa nag sstart and bentahan....May time machine ka ata eh :D

    4. i agree with most of the posts here. drive it before you judge. you can't say its a failure before it starts selling.

i love how the juke breaks the norm. the design transcends time. this will be a big hit with the gay community. indeed, love wins!

      Delete
    5. well said! rock n roll!

      Delete
    6. Don,t say fail without knowing the truth. Juke is widely used in europe, middle east and russia, in fact it's came late in philippines since it is already hitting the globe in 2011. Now how can you say its a fail.

      Delete
    7. Tama matagal na Yan sa UK. Buti nakarating dito. Drive muna bago mag comments.

  10. specwise, have not compared yet. looks, mas gusto ko yung ecosport sans spare tire (which i believe will be relocated when they facelift it). this juke on the other hand, my reactions was "wtf is that"? i wouldn't be surprised if they use the juke as shaider's car (if ever they do a remake).

too bad this juke has only one variant when the ecosport starts at 775k only

    ReplyDelete

    1. ecosport no camera? a lot of buttons....... for my 980,000 i will buy this.

      Delete
    2. Your ecosport is underpower compare to juke

      Delete
  11. juke is a global car. Tested and sold in many countries so it has a good following already. Lets see if it will sell well here. It's also original in terms of looks - wala sya katulad among other B-segment CUVs. medyo masagwa lang tignan sa sideview.. The chevy trax is more of a safe choice than this.

    1. Tama pag gusto mo ng more than 3 star safety, dun ka sa Trax.

  24. Ang ganda sana ng performance pero yung front view lang talaga yung pangit. Performance wise pangit talaga ecosport. medyo nagsisi din ako sa pagpurchase. pero when it comes sa looks lalo na sa front much better naman yung ecosport

    ReplyDelete
  25. First time I saw this, I said "Ganda ah, parang mga Crossover ng Porsche datingan." I like the way it looks. really. :) I'm planning to purchase this or Ecosport on summer. What would you recommend?

    ReplyDelete
  26. The engine is not turbo charge like the one found abroad? if so, how sad. How's the performance of the engine in accordance to the power to weight ratio?
I hope they offer a NISMO version of this vehicle

    ReplyDelete
  27. I actually saw one Nissan Juke few days ago, and I can say that the design is way better in real life than in photos posted here. Since it is new in the Philippines, many Filipinos are not yet familiar even if it is already popular in Europe. The first time I saw this, I thought it's a small version of Porsche Cayenne.

Which i think would be more appealing to the public

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sa picture hindi sya appealing tingnan, pero nung makita ko sya sa europe ganda pala ng looks nya.then last year nakita ko sya naka display sa MOA in red color.napa wow ako kasi ang ganda nya in person.pero parang maliit ang interior nya para sakin, bagay sya sa 5 feet lang below na height.

  30. Hi Uly, can you confirm if indeed the Jukes released here are CBU Japan? The SA from Nissan Westgate Alabang told me it's from Thailand although the SA from Nissan Makati did say it came from Japan.

    1. It's CBU Japan. Or at least that's what we've been told by Nissan Philippines during the Juke's launch.
