All-New Nissan Z Dropping in This Month

Mark your calendars, sportscar fans: Nissan is going to show off its all-new Z this September. The announcement has been officialized by the Japanese carmaker as it dropped an official teaser which you can watch below.

Don’t expect to see it in showrooms yet though. The car debuting on September 16 is the “Z Proto” or “Z Prototype” which is basically a show car that’ll show its design. Based on the teaser footage, will combine “50 years of passion and heritage with modern technology.”

Based on how long Nissan takes to convert a prototype car into a full-fledged production car, the first showroom ready next-generation Z won’t arrive until sometime late 2021 at the earliest. In fact, some media outfits report that the so-called 400Z won’t be ready until late 2022—making it the last of the 12 promised new models from the carmaker.

Though nothing has been confirmed yet, reports say that the next-generation Z will supposedly ride on Nissan’s current Front Midship platform (the same as the current 370Z). While it won’t be an entirely new car, it might come packing a twin-turbo V6 with 400-horsepower with a NISMO version hitting the 500-horsepower mark.

Stay tuned this September to see what sort of surprise Nissan has in store for its all-new Z.
