Honda Cars PH Introduces All-New 2022 HR-V With P 1.250M Starting Price (w/ Specs)

After making its global debut last year, Honda Cars Philippines brings in the all-new third-generation HR-V. The 2022 HR-V is the latest product to benefit from the Japanese carmaker’s human-centric design. Not only does it provide excellent performance and appealing aesthetics, but it’s designed to fully integrate with their customers’ lives.

The 2022 HR-V reflects a contemporary design dominated by horizontal lines to give it a more solid and planted stance. The standard LED headlights have been reduced to slits giving it a sleeker look, while the upright grille have been given two distinct treatments depending on the trim with the S CVT getting black bar inserts to the V Turbo CVT’s black mesh inserts. Moreover, the V Turbo CVT comes with a sport-type front bumper design with an “Amp Up” Easter Egg and two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels. At the back, the HR-V goes for the same minimalist treatment with the tailgate handle, rear camera, and license plate lights all integrated into one unit and positioned in a way to make it easier to open and load/unload bulky items.

Inside, the same horizontal design motif carries over. Honda’s “Man Maximum, Machine Minimum” design concept is in full display with the HR-V focusing on the reduction of driver movement during operation. The layout is also meant to increase available interior space as well as visibility. Both the S CVT and V Turbo CVT have an 8-inch touchscreen display audio system with six speakers, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a single-zone climate control with rear vents, and Honda’s impressive ULT rear seat. The V Turbo CVT ups that with leather seats, auto-dimming rear view mirrors, and a partial digital gauge cluster.

The standout feature of the 2022 HR-V though is its L-shaped air vents. Meant to address the shortcomings of traditional vent configurations, it has a unique diffuse mode that directs a stream of cool air along the side windows and front windshield to the roof creating a vortex beside and above the occupants.

The 2022 HR-V rides on the same platform as the all-new Honda Jazz/Fit, it has front MacPherson Struts and a rear Torsion Beam Axle. The S CVT runs on a normally-aspirated 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine with 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque, while the V Turbo CVT has 177 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a CVT gearbox driving the front wheels.

Standard on all HR-V grades is Honda SENSING. Using a monocular wide-angle camera, the advanced driver assist technology bundles Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keep Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High Beam, and Lead Car Departure Notification. This is on top of the standard four SRS airbag system, ABS with EBD, stability control with hill start assist, and a multi-view reverse camera.

The 2022 Honda HR-V comes in a total of four colors: Ignite Red, Premium Opal White Silver Pearl (V Turbo CVT only), Platinum White Pearl, and Meteoroid Gray. Both the Premium Opal White Silver Pearl and Platinum White Pearl command a P 20,000 premium over the standard colors. Pricing is set at P 1,250,000 for the HR-V S CVT Honda SENSING and P 1,598,000 for the HR-V V Turbo CVT Honda SENSING.

  1. Sorry to Civic admirers, but TOTL Civic and TOTL HR-V, w same turbo engine, both w HONDA SENSING, I'll choose the latter.

    Primary reason:
The ground clearance. Many roads in our country, whether rural or urban, are so bad.
If only our roads are as good as those in Europe (at least those that I see in videos)...

    1. The advantages that the Civic RS has over the V Turbo HR-V is the independent DW rear suspension, 2 more airbags, better audio system (13-speaker Bose), full digital instrument cluster, powered driver's seat, longer wheelbase, presumably better ride & handling. HR-V has a higher ground clearance, ULT rear seats, Hill Descent Control (not sure if that feature made it in the local modelbm, I'm basing it on what I've read about the Asean model), useful for added engine braking w/o cooking the brakes when going down Kennon Road, for example.

Yah, I think most people should get the V HR-V over the RS Civic.

    2. Looks like even the powered, hands-free, kick sensor activated rear hatch opening didn't make it for the local model as well. Dunno if there's a market for an RS variant at around 1.75M later on. At that point people should just get the CR-V.

      Delete
    3. If you want a practical car, get the HRV turbo. If you enjoy driving, get the Civic.

      Delete
    4. Yeah agree. Practicality Vs Performance. IMO comparing the Civic against the Hrv is a disservice to the famed nameplate. The Civic is the sensible version of the CRV. How much ground clearance does one really need? Between these cars only an Inch over? Parang bato lang difference tas penalized kana on everything else (maintainance etc) CIVIC hands down vs HRV no question

  2. Why no e:HEV? That base model is just plain stupid, underpowered.

    1. Funnily enough that same engine will also power the upcoming BRV which is even bigger.

Should have skipped the Turbo and just offered e:Hev.

      Delete
    2. Who would buy a 5-seater subcompact softroader hybrid at 2M+? Even the RS variant was already considered too expensive for the local market. V Turbo is enough. I'd get it over the RS Civic.

      Delete
    3. Corolla cross is priced competitively at 1.6M. It could have been a good alternative.

      Delete
    4. The Hybrid costs 360K PhP more than the very barebones 1.8G variant which doesn't even have half the features of the base model HR-V S. An RS variant would easily cost 200K more than V variant going by the price delta between the Civics. An e:HEV would easily cross the 2M mark already. So no go. You can already get the same efficiency w/ none of the drawbacks by getting a diesel crossover at that price range.

      Delete
    5. That's a weird way of guesstimating the possible price.

Or just do it the easy way of converting the hrv hybrid prices of Thailand. The country where we source most of our Hondas anyway. Looks like it will fall around 1.5-1.6M anyway.

Question is why Honda PH is not offering hybrids. They ain't ready to service hybrids yet? Market study points to the market more interested in HP than efficiency?

      Delete
    6. Huh? V variant is already 1.6M genius. Weird way of discounting local taxes, import tariffs, freight charges, head office & dealer margins. I bet if they brought the e:HEV variant you whiners would be complaining about its price, maintenance & battery expenses, ehy not just get the diesel CR-V, yada-yada...

      Delete
    7. It's at 1.6M because of the turbo dumb dumb. Heck if it's at 1.7-1.8M but TOTL e;Hev it ain't gon be so bad.

My point is that the Corolla cross hybrid needs a competitor.

      Delete
    8. No point arguing, just read they will release the e:Hev soon. We'll know by then.

      Delete
    9. LOL. Don't you think their product planners haven't made that calculation already. Weird way of thinking you know more than them. And the price delta between the V & S is not just due to the engine weirdo dumb4ss, can't you read a spec sheet. Weird fetish for hybrids when it's always been an interim technology.

      Delete
    10. Checking the pricing of neighbouring countries where it's almost the same. Dumb dumb they ain't adding hybrid on top of the turbo. It will use a diff engine of course.

I'm commenting coz I'm in the market for as subcompact, nice try dumb dumb.

      Delete
    11. So you think HCPI should have released an e:HEV variant instead of a V Turbo variant at 1.6M? Lulz. Thank God you're not their product planner. It would have narrowed their pool of buyers even more. You check the prices from neighboring countries w/o thinking about differences in their tax regimes & eco car incentives, that's very dumb0tic.

      Delete
    12. No need coz they will sell the e:Hev whenever they are ready as per the interview with Honda PH. Guess who's the Dumbo now...

      Delete
    13. Why do I get this feeling that this is the same person just arguing with him/herself?

      Delete
    14. Lol, do they really have the same IP?

      Delete
    15. Uly can't see IP addresses of anonymous posters otherwise he'd know those are 2 different people. The writing styles alone are obviously different. I don't know about the other guy maybe it's Rommel the troll or Richard Joa$$ Tan the incel autist spazzer.

      Delete
    16. I was wondering the same regarding why they held-off on releasing the Hybrid. Wag nyo po ako awayin pero dahil po ba inantay nila yung EV LAW?

No matter how we may hate the added complications of electronics, it's the better alternative than destroying the planet

      Delete
  3. Too bad there's no RS variant, the absence of the e:HEV variant is much more understandable since I don't think anyone would pay 2M+ for a 5-seater subcompact crossover hybrid. I'd prefer getting the V Turbo HR-V over the more expensive Civic RS, same engine w/ a higher ground clearance & more flexible seating & storage options. Only question now is the ride & handling given the non-independent torsion beam rear suspension. Both this & the upcoming BR-V really look wider & longer than their predecessors, it's obvious even in pictures. Nice job by Honda in making them look unquestionably better than the previous gen, unlike w/ the Civic *cringe*.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Hondaphil: if you want the RS variant, just buy 2 RS emblems at 200php each from Lazada, stick one on the front grille & the other on the rear hatch. Problem solved. Cheapest upgrade ever. It would look exactly the same as the RS variant in other countries aside from the missing moonroof & different set of alloy wheels.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Dunno why they didn't just retain the 1.8L NA engine for the base variant. 140hp should be more than enough. 120hp is merely City & Jazz level.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I fully agree.
If the BR-V w the 1.5 engine will be released, then there's no reason to purchase the HR-V w the same engine.

      Delete
    2. HR-V will be a lot more refined than the 3rd-world focused BR-V. BR-V will be much more practical for most, but the base HR-V still has a decent sizeable market.

      Delete
  6. infairness mas mura siya kesa sa lumang HRV. That alone makes it already more value rich than the old one kasi it now has more features....:)

    ReplyDelete
  7. Now this is more like it. Product is great as with the pricing.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Seen this at the Bangkok Motor Show. Build isnt as good as the Cross. Interior looks inferior as well. Mas mataas lang ang ground clearance.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Which Cross, the Corolla? Their 1.8G base model is so underspecced no one is buying it. That interior is cr4p for a 1.3M car. Hybrid is way more expensive & no one is ready to deal w/ the inevitable hybrid maintenance hassle. Engine & tranny is unexciting as well.

      Delete
  9. What has happened to Honda? When did their pricing become so... reasonable LMAO not complaining at all though.

    1. Effect of China brands, they are now selling at reasonable prices.

  11. Which is the best choice among the ff:
    Honda HR-V (P1.6M)
    - Honda quality and reliability
    Geely Azkarra (P1.6M)
    - AWD system, luxurious features
    Chery Tiggo 8 Pro (P1.6M)
    - 7-seater, luxurious features
    Peugeot 2008 (P1.55M)
    - French badge

    3. I may not know your specific criteria and priorities but off the bat I choose the HRV.

      Delete
    4. If you need a luxurious 7 seater at an affordable price then I would go for Tiggo 8.

      Delete
    5. Lol. Bragging rights for having a "European Car".
Anyway HRV for me. I just bought the Honda Civic RS, I love driving it but that HRV would also be nice.

      Delete
    6. I saw the all new Tiggo 8 Pro at MIAS - I kid you not I almost puked by its interior's putrid smell when I opened its door. Not a good sign for a brand new car. Or perhaps I'm just sensitive.

      Delete
    7. Those who "need" 7-seats won't consider 5-seaters, those who only need 5 seats don't care for larger vehicles esp. in traffic-clogged city streets & tiny parking lots. So those considering an HR-V won't care about larger Chinese 7-seaters no matter how cheap they are.

  12. Ill pick corolla cross hybrid as it has toyota safety sense, also for reliability n durability, they hav ben making hybrid since 2000 starting wd d prius

Toyota raize just had 15,000 recalls last month for a very critical suspension welding issue.

    3. Bruh,it's Daihatsu problem, not Toyota

      Delete
    4. It's manufactured by Astra Daihatsu Motors in Indonesia, but Toyota chose to market the car as a Toyota, you can't really blame consumers for judging a Daihatsu car as a Toyota. Toyota can only blame themselves for ending up in this situation.

      Delete
    5. Lol when it's going good, wow Toyota. When it goes bad, well it's a Daihatsu. 😆 Just your typical Toyota apologist right there folks

  13. Uly, can you confirm if there's Hill Descent Control & no LaneWatch camera on the V variant?

  14. Honda charges 348k more just to put a turbo in their 1.5 liter engine???? You got to be kidding. Yup, a scam.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Most of it went to the turbo engine, yes. But the V Turbo CVT also has leather steering/seats, interior has more padded material too. That's the reason they're looking at an almost even split in buyers...people who want turbo will go turbo, those who don't, or just need a commuter, there's the S CVT.

      Delete
    2. Okay, let's assume 50k for the leather seats, 30k for the 'additional padding'. 268k just to slap a turbo on the 1.5 liter engine? Sounds like a scam to me.

    3. Once again, Third world specs at first world prices. Cheers Honda PH. This patten reminds me of how a local distributor of a Korean car brand screwed it all.

    4. Or they might offer a discount after a month or two, if buyers won't bite just like the new Civic.

  16. The new honda civic sold 400 units in more than 4 months.
The ford territory sold 400 units in a month. Do the math.
People are not anymore brand conscious.. they want more for the money they spend.
The HRV S will all the more cannibalise the civic sales.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Honda PH doesn't see their Civic as a volume seller anyway, so they're probably paying more attention to their crossovers strategic positioning (and I say, the new HR-V was priced right—aggressively.)

      Delete
    2. Ford Territory sucks according to Uly's review. Ignore the Youtuberos, they never criticize anything since they're afraid of not getting invited to future car launches & junkets. If you wanna go Chanis-style-just-add-one-egg then just get the Coolray & sell it before the warranty expires.
