BYD Philippines Launches 2024 Atto 3 EV SUV For Just P 1.598M (w/ Specs)

Continuing its aggressive move towards all-electric mobility, AC Motors’ Mobility Access Philippines Ventures, Inc., launches its first product since they took over the exclusive distributorship of BYD: the all-new Atto 3.

Built from the ground-up as part of BYD’s global push as a leader in battery electric mobility, the Atto 3 comes with a starting price of just P 1.598 million for the standard range and P 1.798 million for the extended range variant.

The front-wheel drive compact EV SUV features an exterior design inspired by human movement and energy. The same theme carries inside with its “Muscle Fiber” inspired dashboard. Even details such as the door handles and AC vents are unconventional as they’re made to look like dumbbell plates.

For the Philippines market, the Atto 3 Dynamic (standard range) and the Atto 3 Premium (extended range) share the same powertrain: a single permanent magnet synchronous motor driving the front wheels producing 204 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. This gives it a zero to 100 km/h time of less than 8 seconds.

Both versions also use BYD’s proprietary Blade Battery, but differs in the overall kWh capacity. The entry-level Dynamic has an overall capacity of 50-kWh (49.92-kWh), while the Premium uses a 60-kWh (60.48-kWh). This gives the Atto 3 a maximum cruising range of 410 to 480 kilometers between charges.

The Atto 3 can be charged using a conventional 220-volt household socket, but can be charged using an optional 7-kW AC wall box charger. If you’re lucky enough to have access to a DC fast charger, the Dynamic can juice up at a rate of 70-kW, while the Premium ups that to 80-kW. In both cases, it uses the widely-accepted CCS Type 2 connector.

The Dynamic and Premium variants are differentiated by its wheels (18-inch versus 17-inch), adaptive front lighting (LED lighting is standard, however), and a panoramic sunroof.

Inside, synthetic leather seats are standard on both variants with power adjustment for the driver, as is a giant rotating 12.8-inch tablet touchscreen display which controls most vehicle functions. Currently, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto isn’t available but an OTA update will make it available by the last part of 2023. The Premium variant enjoys additional ambient lighting as well as an automatic dimming rear view mirror.

In terms of safety features, the 5-star Euro NCAP-rated Atto 3 comes standard with 4 SRS airbags, tire pressure monitoring, ABS with EBD, stability control, and rear parking sensors with reverse camera. The Premium variant adds a variety of driver assist functions such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, along with front clearance sensors, a 360-degree camera, and two additional airbags.

It’s available in four colors: Surfing Blue, Parkour Red, Boulder Gray, and Ski White. The interior color is solely in Eclipse Blue + Hazy Gray.

  2. Seems AC Motors have good pricing strategies for BYD. This will bring significant impact in the EV market for sure.

  3. Very interesting pricing.

  4. Not a fan of Chinese cars but this a pretty good value proposition if you've always wanted an EV but balked at the exorbitant local prices

  5. Good move with price, initially it was at php 2-2.5m. Kudos

  6. BYD Philippines is pushing EV heavily in the market. With its very attractive pricing it could really take the heart of the buying public especially those afraid risking their hard earned money for the futuristic mobility. If this is the Ayala's Way with the VW and Kia Cars Pricing they have Good share of the market Sales but it's the opposite strategy. They are killing the Brand.

  7. This is priced very aggressively by BYD. Kudos to them. Made MG's Marvel R and Dongfeng's Forthing Friday too expensive by comparison. Really hope they would bring the new Song L to the Phils, quite interested in that one.

  8. Good price but poor execution to those who bought Byd cars a month or two ago. They dropped prices by as much as php 300k instantly, to be competitive but those who bought at the old price lost value of their cars with no compensation.

    1. Thankfully, the Atto 3 EV never arrived under BYD's previous distributor (it was priced at around P 2.5 million). They did take in pre-orders though. I'd imagine those would-be owners are happy with the new price.

  9. Just like huawie before...highly subsidized by china govt, price below market to stiffle and eventually forced out competition. It seems china's EV PRICE WAR already coming here, matira matibay...good for car buyers

    1. Chinese EVs can sell at a lower price not because of govt subsidies but because of lower costs. BYD for example is a giant battery maker before it branched out to car manufacturing. Their EV batteries itself are cheaper than other non Chinese brands because it too have a secured and integrated supply chain thus it translates to cheaper EVs for those car companies that don't own a battery factory like BYD. Also, most countries want cleaner air so they exempt or cut tariffs for imported EV cars

    2. Well, EU and US dont believed that way, they believed that from mining raw materials, putting up factories for EV batteries, factories for EV vehicles the china govt heavily subsidized it. Thats why EU contemplating to put dumping tarrifs for china EV's entering its market

  10. The base variant of Tharu is even more expensive than the TOTL Atto 3. Base Atto 3 is cheaper by a whopping 200K+

Both are global models and made in China.

Thanks mainly to 0% tariff for EVs but Tharu is just more expensive for what it is.

  11. Knowing what ac motors have done to maxus, kia, vw , my guess is byd forced acmotors to lower the priced.

  12. Only downside is Apple Carplay. Would be wise to wait till it's "fitted" at the factory.

  13. Sir Uly, hopefully you'll have an article detailing the cost of ownership / cost benefit of owning the BYD Atto 3 (and possibly a comparison vs say a toyota yaris or corolla cross....cost wise that is). I find those types of articles you write quite informative and beneficial particularly for us people who are not as skilled in math.

    1. Let's see. We did run the numbers on the Dolphin under their previous distributor. Let's try to see if they did improve the aftersales cost as well.

  14. Atto yata has CarPlay and Android auto. Others don’t have, so need to connect to Waze thru WiFi. No Spotify, so phone Spotify will have to used. Now if Spotify and wifi hot spot of your phone are running simultaneously = to overload and overheat.

  15. Good pricing. AC motors should be praise for their strategy to boost the ev car use in Phil. BYD did not grow under solar transport because of their greedy pricing. Now I hope AC motors really invest in thier after sales service BYD i.e. parts

    1. No solid plans yet, but it's possible. They've been focusing on that and the Seal during a recent trip to China.

  18. How much will the optional wall charger come out to be? Hopefully BYD Philippines switches out the Chao Yang or Atlas Batman tires often criticised in international reviews.
