Ford Philippines is entering the electrified space in a big way by choosing to offer its Territory compact SUV with standard hybrid power. The Philippines is the first market in the world to receive this self-charging hybrid, and it’s been chosen for its aptness considering the unique requirements of the Filipino consumer as well as the current state of the energy infrastructure.
Standard in the new and refreshed Territory is a 1.5-liter Dedicated Hybrid Engine that’s paired with a 2-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) and a 1.83-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The engine itself generates a healthy 150 horsepower (110 kW) and 230 Nm, while the electric motor provides 218 horsepower (150 kW) and 315 Nm. All in all, Ford is confident of a 0 to 100 km/h time of 8.5 seconds and a range not lower than 1,000 kilometers thanks to its 60-liter tank.
While the full hybrid powertrain is able to run in EV, Series, Parallel, or Energy Recovery modes all without any driver intervention, three driving modes—Eco, Normal, and Sport is available to the driver. Each one allows the driver to tailor the Territory Hybrid’s performance to suit road or personal preference.
In addition to the new powertrain, the Territory Hybrid gets a revised dual pinion electric power assisted steering for improved responsiveness and straight-line stability. This is in conjunction with the newly designed front suspension for an enhanced ride.
The new Territory also gets a heavily revised exterior. The front fascia features a new hood, fenders, and bumper design along with a larger, stronger grille with a honeycomb insert. The C-shaped headlights now produce a more pronounced lighting signature as does the “Coast-to-Coast” full-width light bar and illuminated Ford logo. At the back, the AM/FM antenna has migrated into the glass, and replacing it in the shark fin antenna is the GPS for the FordPass Connect system. Other detail changes include a new acoustic laminated windshield, lower rear bumper, new alloy wheels.
Speaking of FordPass Connect, this functionality allows users to manage several vehicle functions on their mobile phone such as remote start, lock/unlock, and more. Vehicle health alerts can also be sent straight to the mobile phone.
Inside, the Territory Hybrid continues to offer a modern, minimalist look. It retains the two-screen layout with a rotary-type gear selector on the center console. The displays themselves now have overhauled graphics and although unseen, it now uses faster processors and chips making the human-machine interface more responsive. A new Arkamys SoundStage audio system also provides a premium sound system with enhanced Bass and 3D surround sound effects. Other additions include a 50-watt wireless charger and faster USB Type A and Type C ports.
Further improving its comfort, the Territory Hybrid receives new front seats with a horizontally-oriented headrest made of structured foam for greater comfort and support. Dual zone climate control with an intelligent air purification system, a near-flat rear floor, and a panoramic sunroof also equate to a class-above cabin experience.
Safety remains at the forefront with the new Territory Hybrid. Standard across the range are electronic stability control, hill launch assist, hill descent control, rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera with a split-view function. On the range-topping Titanium X, it’s further enhanced with adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane keeping aid, blind spot information system, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additional driver-assist technologies such as autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning and lane centering control are also standard.

Wo wo wow👍👍👍
ReplyDeleteVentilated seats are the new must-have feature these days.
ReplyDeleteEngine lag behind byd phev dmi. A generation behind. But this is definitely better than zenix. Made the zenix feel obsolete
ReplyDeletePHEV are the most unreliable form of engines around according to Consumer Reports while Hybrids are generally the most reliable.
DeleteYou are misinterpreting the Consumer Reports' report (including the J.D. Power report because they conduct their survey the same way). The reliability reports they publish are NOT solely about the engine/drivetrain; if you have problems (this will include even minor complaints because of how the questions are structured) with the seats, aircon, infotainment, etc. then they will count/weigh the same as a problem with the engine.
DeleteAre you a fan of diesels? Because look at the lowest scorers on the J.D. Power 2025 VDS (vehicle dependability study); diesel (233 PP100); and PHEVs (242 PP100) and you will find that there is only a 9 point difference between diesels and PHEVs which translates to 3.86% more problems/complaints for PHEVs over diesels. At the end of the days it's a simple matter of more tech = more things people need to learn about (or complain about if they are they stubborn type).
JD Powers study is based in Western countries where the reliability of diesels are constrained by tougher environmental laws. As a result, almost all first world country do not have diesel anymore due to tough emission regulations. Reliability studies consistently say that PHEVs have 20% more problems than ice or regular hybrids. With the lack of plugin options in here and if you live in condos, it makes more sense to buy the far more reliable regular hybrids.

DeleteYou are still misinterpreting the purpose of the reliability studies. It is mostly meant for manufacturers to gauge general sentiment of their products compared to other brands (as it covers different areas of a vehicle with the engine just being one of them) and not to be taken as a basis to judge a car's engine reliability.
Regardless of the specifics of a person's living conditions (your example of condo living) or your point about diesel car numbers (but the fact that they have data on them means that they still exist in the US market and that owners have submitted responses about their diesel cars thus they can include them in the report), the point being that using those studies as the basis to claim poor/good/best ENGINE reliability is NOT what you should take away from the results since that is NOT what these studies are centered around and spreading such a misinterpretation is not helpful to the general discourse about cars.
Perhaps my way of explaining this may not be effective so if you or anyone else reading this may be curious to understand this better then I recommend watching the 15 min video explainer titled: JD Power Explained - Why These Scores Aren't All About "Reliability" from Youtuber Auto Buyers Guide | Alex on Autos.
