MG Motor Philippines introduces the all-new MG HS Hybrid+, their latest electrified SUV designed to deliver a combination of power, efficiency, and safety.
Recently nominated for 2025 European Car of the Year, the HS Hybrid+ represents MG’s bold step toward electrification. At its heart lies MG’s advanced 1.5-liter turbocharged hybrid dedicated engine paired with a high-output electric motor.
Together, they produce a maximum output of 224 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque, delivering smooth acceleration and effortless performance across any road. The HS Hybrid+ achieves an impressive fuel efficiency of 21.55 km/L, as verified by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP).
Its 1.83 kWh hybrid battery, coupled with MG’s intelligent 2-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission, allows the vehicle to seamlessly shift between all-electric, hybrid, and gasoline power, while eight intelligently managed propulsion modes continuously optimize performance and fuel efficiency. Designed for optimal performance, efficiency, and convenience, the MG Hybrid+ system requires no charging for a hassle-free, enjoyable drive.
The MG HS Hybrid+ also rates with a perfect 5-star safety rating in both the Euro NCAP and ANCAP. Its safety credentials are bolstered by MG Pilot, the brand’s intelligent suite of driver assistance technologies, which includes adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert and braking, and a clear 360-degree camera.
Complementing MG Pilot are driver and front passenger, side, and curtain airbags, along with an autobrake hold, anti-lock braking, electronic brakeforce distribution, cornering brake control, traction control, vehicle dynamics control, and active rollover protection.
The HS Hybrid+ also offers high levels of comfort and refinement. It features a dual 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has wireless charging, dual zone climate control with air purifier, and leather seating with six-way electric adjustment and memory for the driver. A panoramic sunroof, hands-free power tailgate, and reverse auto-tilting mirrors further enrich the driving experience.
Outside, the Digital Matrix LED lighting, roof rail with 75-kilogram capacity, and 19-inch black-painted alloy wheels give the HS Hybrid+ a striking presence on the road.
“The MG HS Hybrid+ is more than just a new model — it is our statement of intent for the future of mobility in the Philippines,” said Felix Jiang, President of MG Motor Philippines. “It brings together modern design, world-class safety, and next-generation hybrid technology in one premium package – a vehicle designed to let Filipino motorists truly experience a 5-star life.”
The all-new MG HS Hybrid+ is available in Black Pearl, Lunar Gray, Pearl White, Champagne Silver, and Diamond Red, with a retail price of P 1,398,888 and an introductory offer of P 1,388,888 for a limited period.

Very good price at specs of new generation MG HS Hybrid Plus crossover SUV.
ReplyDeleteIt's priced very well just like the new MG3 Hybrid hatchback and MG ZS Hybrid crossover SUV.
Miles better than byd SL6 and much affordable too
ReplyDeleteIts not a PHEV, BYD is still better
DeleteThere's a PHEV version of the new generation MG HS but SAIC Motor Philippines decided not to sell it due to pricing issues.
DeleteIt'll be hard to sell a MG HS PHEV at 1.7 Million or 1.8 Million Pesos.
PHEV nor HEV is better, both have cons and pros
Delete@ Anonymous November 24, 2025 at 8:09 AM
DeleteIt's true that both PHEV & HEV have pros & cons. In my case though where I have a company provided Sealion 6 and personally owned Haval H6 HEV with similar mileage, the PHEV is about 41% less expensive to operate than the HEV.
Note that the actual pure EV range of the Sealion 6 is only 75Km or less (not 105Km as claimed). Both travel about 24KM a day but I make sure to operate the ICE in the SL6 5-8 minutes a day to lubricate its ICE. Both ave. travel speed in city driving is 12-14KPH.
PHEV Power Cost = 15Kw for 100KM + 0.8L XCS/100KM
15Kw X P14.70/Kw (Home Wall Charger) = P220.50/100Km =
P2.20/Km.
Fuel Cost = 0.8 liter XCS/100Km = P58.10 X .0.8 = P46.48/100 = P0.46/Km.
Total = P2.20 + P0.46 = P2.66/Km for the SL6 PHEV.
HEV Fuel Cost = P58.10/L at 13Km/L = P4.46/Km.
Total = P4.46/Km for the H6 HEV
Note that the SL6's ICE is NA (Naturally Aspirated), while the H6's ICE is Turbocharged with the H6's ICE operating from 3 to 5 times as much as that of the SL6.
A Turbo ICE is significantly more stressed than a NA ICE so the ICE in the SL6 will surely last longer than that of the ICE in the H6, and would require less maintenance.
The current tech of electric motors requires much much less maintenance than a ICE, while the LiFePO4 batteries last from 2 to 5 times longer than NMC batteries.
Some say it's inconvenient to constantly plug-in a PHEV though it only takes me all of <2 mins. when I get home. But the lower operating costs, considerably quicker overall acceleration, predictably longer life of the propulsion system along with the BYD App (not to mention the P100+K additional acquisition cost of the H6 HEV), makes the SL6 PHEV the clear winner for me.
Btw, an EV is not an option for me since their range is very limited , and the Charging Infrastructure is no where near as available as I would want it to be.
Hoping the above makes things easier for those sitting on the fence deciding HEV vs. PHEV.
.
Must be very good to give you a 5 star life
ReplyDeleteJust a 1.8 kWh battery compared to 18 kWh for BYD SL6?
ReplyDeleteBYD Sealion 6 is a PHEV
DeleteNew MG HS Hybrid Plus is a normal Hybrid crossover SUV
Its because SL6 is a PHEV and MG HS+ is a HEV.
Deletefull tank to full tank HEV more fuel efficient than PHEV. PHEV cost more, battery replacement cost much higher, charging cost/electricity cost here in ph also high. HEV hassle free to dive, simple to operate, simple to maintain and will last longer than complicated PHEV.
ReplyDeleteYou're talking as if there are no savings to be had by going electric in the Philippines.
DeleteThe real-world savings people are LITERALLY telling the world when they compare their previous fuel expenses to when they switched over to PHEV/BEVs are enough to almost pay for half of the monthly payment of the car itself. Add mo pa if mag solar ka then gagaan tlga bills mo. I have never heard an HEV owner claim to have that kind of savings.
I don't know if you're the same person who keeps saying in articles about how it's such a hassle having to charge is but that's such an ignorant comment given how miniscule the effort it is to plug in and how you absolutely can ignore charging outside the house and just run on gas. If apartment/condo living ka then, sure, not for you.
Also, be wary of all the anti-PHEV info out there as so much of it is coming from the US where they have so few options and maraming bad models dun that are really creating a bad rep for PHEVs.
It's still better, my sealion 6 last full tank was in June 30th, 2025. Fast forward today it's still at 45% gas at 1.6 km/liter for city driving. I spent only 600 pesos a month on the EV Home Charger for a once a week charging. Not Bad. So, the bottom line here it depends on every one's need. MG and BYD have their own Pros and Cons. But Im happy with my SL6.
ReplyDeleteI think your "1.6 km/liter" might be wrong. If you are basing that on your car's reported consumption sa screen niya, I think your consumption should read 1.6 L/100km because that's how BYD cars show fuel efficiency.
