New vehicle sales dropped 3.8 percent last September—the third straight month of declines—dragged by dwindling demand for passenger cars and tightening lending from banks and financial institutions.
Report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) showed that 38,029 vehicles were sold in September—down from 39,542 units a year earlier. Month on month sales, however, showed a slight improvement suggesting a modest recovery as the industry heads to the final quarter.
Toyota remains the dominant brand last September with a 48.49 percent market share (18,440 units). They’re followed by Mitsubishi with 19.76 percent (7,513 units), Suzuki with 4.92 percent (1,871 units), and Ford with 4.6 percent (1,748 units). Isuzu is now in fifth spot with 4.05 percent (1,539 units), while Nissan drops to sixth spot with 3.84 percent (1,461 units).

The downward trend, CAMPI-TMA says is due to weather-related disruptions. However, it’s also attributed to a mix in rising borrowing costs, slower wage growth, and shifting consumer priorities.
Per CAMPI-TMA data, electrified vehicle sales reached 20,662 units in the first nine months, representing 6 percent of total sales. Of these, 16,335 units are HEVs, 3,657 units are BEVs, and 670 units are PHEVs. Tesla is the dominant player in the EV field with 2,015 units sold—enough for them to overtake established brands such as GAC (1,517 units), Mazda (1,269 units), Chery (1,055 units), and Subaru (455 units). VinFast has withdrawn from reporting its sales figures to CAMPI until the end of 2025 citing internal concerns.

will astara drop peugeot anytime soon and does the vinfast tally include the taxi fleet?
ReplyDeleteWho is the biggest seller of 3,657 BEVs in 2025? Can't be the Atto3 as there are more SL6 seen on the road in the Metro. Not unless these BEVs sold more outside MM.
ReplyDeleteSL6 is a PHEV
DeleteThat figure is CAMPI reported sales. BYD isn't a current member of CAMPI so si Tesla yung leader within that group. The article mentions this (2,015 units).
DeleteI know SL6/SL5/Seal5/Tang/eMax9/Shark6 are PHEVs or DM-i in BYD speak. I assume now it is Tesla who covered the bulk of BEV sales?
Deletethe segment breakdown is a much welcome addition :D
ReplyDeleteSome of these vehicles are just misplaced. Mirage should be in the B segment as it's the G4 that's accounting for most of the nameplate's sales anyway, while the S-Presso should be in the A segment. Also think it's high time that the "AUV" segment be discarded in lieu of a size-based delineation of the MPV segment. The AUV died when the Adventure and Crosswind were phased out.
ReplyDeleteThis is the official CAMPI classification though, so...
DeleteIt shows that CAMPI is.......
DeleteWhat's the difference of Passenger Car vs. Commercial Vehicle? Is it sedan vs. SUV?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the breakdown Carguide. It is just unfortunate that BYD do not post their sales info.
ReplyDeleteTerritory is classified in the same segment as rav4 and cr-v lol
ReplyDeleteWhere is BYD?
ReplyDeleteBYD is not a member of CAMPI.
DeleteWalang byd
ReplyDeleteWhere are the Chinese automakers?
ReplyDeleteMG and Jetour are mentioned in the article.
DeleteGeely left mid-2024 during their change of management and they haven't yet rejoined.
DeleteBYD is also not yet a member.
There was an article here a while back where they tried to guess the sales of non-CAMPI members by comparing LTO registrations minus CAMPI sales figures so maybe they will try doing that again.
So the Alphard, Carnival and Custin are simply mere MPVs? ðŸ«
ReplyDeleteBYD is not on the list false news
ReplyDeleteRemember this is just CAMPI, which BYD is not a member of
DeleteIt's just amazing how Chery and Jetour are selling more than Mazda. The president anf its management shoild be replaced.
ReplyDeleteSales of Mazda 3 and Mazda 2 are down massively same goes for the sales of Mazda BT-50.
DeleteMazda and Subaru in the Philippines all position themselves as Audi,BMW and Lexus premium brand alternatives in the local market.
They're not aiming anymore for thousands of units a year sales volume.
It seems the majority of people are for FC now. Myself and others who prioritise driving dynamics are few.
DeleteWell I do hope the 127 units sold by Mazda is enough to turn profit.
DeleteTotoya is expected but 2nd place is mitsubishi?
ReplyDeleteI didn't know mitsubishi had so many fanboys in the Philippines. In the US and other developed countries, they're basically nothing. I guess mitsubishi captured the 3rd world taste perfectly.
Sales of Mitsubishi in America are higher than the Philippines for many years
DeleteNothing wrong Mitsubishi still doing well sales wise in the Philippine market as not all people want to drive a made in Indonesia Daihatsu vehicles disguised as Toyota or decades old Toyota vehicles for 3rd world markets made in the Philippines,Japan and Thailand.
Mitsubishi is strong here at SEA and MENA iirc.
DeleteThere is like only 100k Mitsubishi sold in the US last year. Very very very low. They are failing in other developed markets too. So yeah, Mitsubishi is essentially for the 3rd world.
Delete100k sales for Mitsubishi is still good
DeleteMitsubishi and Suzuki are realistic and wants to focus more on markets they'll earn more profits.
Toyota still sells and produces a lot of old, outdated, unsafe and unrefined 3rd world market vehicles so they could survive and be dominant in South East Asian region
Mitsubishi's main market nowadays is Southeast Asia, which is why the sales of their cars in PH and other SEA nations are still high compared to North America.
DeleteI'm laughing at the guy tenaciously defending Mitsubishi, telling its selling well in the US. Remember, car manufacturers sells by the millions there per year. No matter how you look at it, 100k sales in a year cannot be twisted as being successful.
DeletePhilippines,Vietnam,Indonesia and Malaysia are where Mitsubishi is very strong sales wise in SEA region.
DeleteMitsubishi can sell vehicles at high profit margins in SEA region than in America and Europe.
I don't even notice any Mitsubishi kei/sedan/van or SUV in Japan aside from the bus i rode in Nagasaki.
DeleteLots of Mitsubishi ek kei cars and Delica Mini kei cars sold in Japan..My Japanese friend who works at a horse club owns and drives a brand new Mitsubishi Delica Mini kei car which he believes is miles better than those Daihatsu kei vehicles.
DeleteStrange not 1 BYD sold?
ReplyDeleteThere's a decline in YoY Sales since BYD have not yet reported their numbers
ReplyDeleteMitsubishi is doing surprisingly well in the segments where it competes. Except for pickup, they are all not bad compared to Toyota.
ReplyDeleteMirage G4,Montero Sport and Xpander are their best selling vehicles
DeleteThese are well priced and easier to obtain what's why the sales of these vehicles are good.
Sales of Mitsubishi XForce is also stable at 2600 up to 3000 units a year as MMPC affiliated dealers are giving away huge cash discounts for the GLS and GT variants of the XForce SUV,
Mitsu sales are only good in the Philippines. I heard that our country is Mitsu's largest market. Everywhere else Mitsu is know for bad quality and outdated vehicles.
DeleteSales of Mitsubishi are higher in Japan,Thailand,Indonesia,Vietnam and North America.
DeleteVehicles sold by Mitsubishi are still miles better than those unsafe, plasticky, unrefined, outdated and low quality 3rd world market vehicles produced and sold by Daihatsu Japan and Indonesia.
No, they are failing in North America. They might be even considered a niche brand there.
DeleteByd october worlwide sales down 12% vs october last year. it seems byd now on a roll...rolling down down down.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the ranking of total unit sold from January to September?
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be discrepancy with the numbers sold by brand and the number sold per segment.
ReplyDeleteMazda has sold 127 vehicles as brand. But has sold 183 units Mazda3 and 12 units of Mazda6?
127 is September figures. 183 is the number of Mazda3 and Mazda6 sold year-to-date.
DeleteWhoops! Sorry read the headings wrong.
