It's a Baojun Yep Plus. Another made in China car.
ReplyDeletethis will languish in our market if the price doesn't budge
ReplyDeleteI wonder why do automakers love rebadging cars these days especially using Chinese products? Somewhat feels like what Toyota did with the GR 86 and GR Supra but these are definitely not on Toyota's level.
ReplyDeleteRe-badging is good for buyers like me. Its a win-win also for both OEM (like Subaru, Daihatsu, Suzuki as these marques can sell more cars and recover their cost quicker. For Toyota, the edge is quick to market and keeping cost low and revenue targets are met. Supra and 86 would not have been in the market this quick had Toyota not partnered with Subaru and BMW. Just imagine entry level to a Toyota is a Corolla (not Wigo, Vios, Raize, or Fronx) and Innova (not Avanza, Veloz or Rush). It's a 3-way win. Con side of it, it is the quality of the OEM that is followed not Toyota's as we hope.
