By all indicators, the Philippines is still a developing country, although we’ve been touted as a growing economy for years now, we still find ourselves in the middle of that said growth. There are moments, though, where you feel that success is spreading more, and most of the signs come from the retail side of the economy.
In the world of cars, you would laugh at the idea if it were mentioned to you a couple of years ago that a healthy following of sports and supercars would roam our streets. Yet here we are in 2026, where these cars are increasing in number, with more soon to come.
PGA cars have long been the purveyors of very high-performance and high-luxury cars in the Philippines. The portfolio of brands they import and sell ranges from Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Bentley. Across these brands are multiple nameplates and models that showcase the very best of automotive luxury and performance.
In celebration of their ever-increasing clientele, a breakfast meet aptly dubbed the World Of Supercars was held this past Sunday at their mixed BGC dealership. On my way to the venue, I was being passed on the road by droves of Porsche, Audi, and Lamborghini owners, each relishing the emptiness of the Sunday traffic to enliven our hearing with a symphony of straight sixes, V8s, and V12s.
It was a special day that allowed these works of automotive art to be parked just on the sidewalks, giving passersby pause and wonderment. It took me 15 minutes to properly enter the venue itself because I kept seeing rare car after rare car turn up. Inside the multi-brand showroom, Audi displayed its SUV lineup, along with the introduction of the all-new Audi Q5 Hybrid. In a quiet corner, the Bentley Continental GT Speed and Flying Spur drew people in with their regal presence.
Lamborghini took the occasion as a sign to display their new generation Supercar lineup, the V12 hybrid Revuelto, and the recently introduced Temerario V8 hybrid, a replacement for the Huracan. The scene stealer, though, was Porsche, where the one and only Porsche 911 Spirit 70 was on display. This car pays homage to the 70s and 80s era 911, and is part of just 1,500 made worldwide.
The world of ultra-luxurious, high-performing cars admits only the lucky few of the population who can afford them. PGA’s recent event shows us that there are more Filipinos who can now afford these cars, and are proud owners at that.
