Mazda Hazumi Concept Points Clearly to All-New Mazda2
Mazda pulled the wraps off its newest concept car, the Hazumi at the 2014 Geneva International Motor Show and we like what we see. According to Mazda, the Hazumi is a “foreshadowing of Mazda’s next-generation subcompact car”—in other words, it’s the all-new Mazda2. Indeed, if there’s a car that deserves some of that KODO and Skyactiv love, it’s Mazda’s spunky little B-segment hatchback.

The MINI Clubman Lives, Concept to Bow at Geneva
The rumors of MINI killing off the Clubman seems to be just that: rumors as MINI revealed the Clubman Concept for the 2014 Geneva Auto Show. And pundits know if MINI parent company BMW attaches the word, “Concept” to the name, it’s a thinly-veiled, almost production-ready car. So what makes the second-generation Clubman different? Well, for one it’s got six doors. Yes, six doors if you were to include the split-opening tailgate just like the original Clubman.

Volvo Cars Introduces Active High Beam Support
The new Volvo S60, V60 and XC60 - shown to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show - can be fitted with an innovation that makes driving in the dark safer and more comfortable. The renewed Active High Beam Control makes it possible to use high beam continuously thanks to an ingenious mechanism that prevents dazzling of oncoming drivers. At a press conference in Geneva, Volvo Car Group will also present a new world-first collision-avoidance technology.
Driving at night presents car drivers all over the world with challenging conditions. "Our aim with the renewed Active High Beam Control technology is to enhance visibility in the dark by making it possible to use high beam permanently, without having to switch to low beam when meeting or catching up with other cars," says Prof. Lotta Jakobsson, Senior Technical Specialist Safety at Volvo Cars Safety Center.

Toyota Preview 86 Convertible for Geneva Debut
Toyota has confirmed its lineup for the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and although the all-new RAV4 is there and so is the new Auris Touring Sports (future Corolla?), the biggest headline is the world premiere of the 86 convertible.
Still carrying the concept moniker, the 86 convertible (properly referred to as "FT-86 Open Concept") is a sneak peek at a "possible future variant" of the 86 (Toyota's own words). Of course, everyone knows that the 86 and its corporate twin, the Subaru BRZ is designed to maintain its structural rigidity even with its roof lopped off, so mostly likely the "concept car" we'll see in Geneva is nothing more than a thinly disguised version.
Right now, enjoy the official sketch provided by Toyota Motors Europe, but we'll be covering the 2013 Geneva Motor Show during the first week of March.

Mitsubishi Previews 2012 Outlander
Photo courtesy of Mitsubishi Press |
For European markets, the Outlander will be offered with a choice of gasoline and diesel engines. For those who prefer petrol, the Outlander will use a 2.0-liter SOHC 4-cylinder engine equipped with MIVEC (4J11). The lean-burning model will use a 2.2-liter CRDi with a very low compression ratio and MIVEC technology. Mitsubishi promises excellent CO2 emissions as well as fuel efficiency thanks to its new Auto Stop&Go idle-stop system as well as a lighter body.
Inside, the Outlander promises a high-quality interior thanks to a "soft-touch dashboard" as well as a gloss black instrument panel. Some models will also come with third-row seating just like the current Outlander while a power tailgate makes it to the options list.
Initially, the 2012 Outlander will be launched for the Russian market followed by the European, Japanese, Chinese and North American market. No word yet whether the Outlander will come back to the Philippine market.
