Tokyo Motor Show 2015: Subaru to Debut All-New Impreza 5-Door Concept
Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru, is showing off (at least in concept form) of what could be their most important product in the next few years: the Impreza 5-Door Concept. As a start to the company’s “Prominence 2020” announced in May 2014, this debuts not just a new styling direction for the brand but a brand-new platform which will underpin all other future Subaru models.
The Impreza 5-Door Concept will feature Subaru’s Dynamic & Solid theme which expresses value exceeding its class. This can be felt from the dynamically sporty driving feel to the solid performance as well as innovation and peace of mind provided by its wealth of safety and technological features.
CarGuide.PH will be at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show which will run from October 28-30, 2015. For up-to-the-minute updates during the show dates, follow us on Twitter or Instagram.

Tokyo Motor Show 2013: Green is Gold for Toyota
TOKYO, JAPAN—By the time you read this, I’ll still be somewhere in Japan; perhaps kicking back on a nice cup of hot macha tea while taking in the crisp autumn air or chasing some girls in “cosplay” outfits with a naughty smile pasted on my face. As a people, the Japanese have never failed to amaze me with their ability to combine seemingly opposite ideas and turn them into something uniquely, well, Japanese. Take for instance the very example I pointed out above: amidst the penchant for strict and proper etiquette (tea ceremonies and sumo wrestling matches to name two), you’ve got the colorful world of anime, school girls, and umm, “adult material”. It’s funny and all, but it’s a fact: these two polar opposites make up and perfectly describe Japanese culture.

Toyota and Subaru Confirm 86 and BRZ Plans for Philippines
In two separate announcements, both Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) and Motor Image Pilipinas (MI) have announced that the Toyota 86 and the Subaru BRZ will be made available to Philippine car enthusiasts.
TMP, the Philippine office of Toyota Motor Corporation has announced that the Toyota 86 (or in Europe, the GT 86) will be launched in the Philippine market. In an interview held at the sidelines of the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, Toyota Motor Philippines President Michinobu Sugata was quoted as saying, "We are launching the Toyota 86 in the Philippines quite soon."
Speaking in a non-committal manner, another Toyota Motor Philippines executive said that the Toyota 86 is slated for a mid-2012 launch with a price tag of no more than P 2-million.
On the other hand, MI has confirmed that the Subaru version of the two-door sports coupe, the BRZ will be on sale in the Philippines by mid-2012.
This just means that both the Subaru BRZ and the Toyota 86 will be made available at roughly the same time. This equates to more choices to car enthusiasts in the country. We can't wait!

Subaru Launches WRX STI S206
Photos courtesy of Subaru Press |
There's no doubting that the days of the Subaru Impreza WRX STI are numbered (at least in its current form). So, it's just fitting that the folks over at Subaru Tecnica International give it a proper send-off with the S206 (well, at least in Japan). The S206 joins the long list of "S" series STI's.

Toyota Reveals GT 86 Sports Car
Photos courtesy of Toyota Press |
It has also been revealed that the car will be dropping the "FT" moniker for something much simpler: "86". Yes, that's right--the car will be called the Toyota 86. However, for Europe, the two-seater will be called Toyota GT 86. Of course, depending on where you are, the 86 will be called by different names. In the US, it will be known as a Scion FR-S.
