33-Car Grid Lines Up for GT Radial x 8 Hours ng Pilipinas


The GT Radial x 8 Oras ng Pilipinas has revealed that a huge 33-car entry list will take part in the country's longest-running endurance race this December 2-3. Held at the Clark International Speedway, it will become the biggest grid of the Philippine Endurance Challenge (PEC) to date.

Rule changes were introduced for 2017 to accommodate the wide variety of entries. FM-3 was added to to allow slightly-modified street cars with has less than 100 hp to compete in its own category. FM-2, on the other hand, is now specifically for all cars with 100 to 150 hp. Meanwhile, prototypes get its own Formula category for the newly-launched Formula V1.

The 33-car entry list is comprised of 10 cars in the RP Class, 8 in FM-1, 8 in FM-2, and 6 in FM-3. There are also 2 entries in the Manufacturer's Cup headed by the KYB – SmartFuels2Race Toyota Yaris'es. The lone entry in the Formula category is campaigned by Vita Prototype.

Centrum – GT Radial and their pair of Honda Civics will be in search of repeating their victories in 2015 and 2016. The team also has the most number of entries with 8 cars competing in 4 categories. BMW AutoPerformance' M3 won the 4 Oras ng Pilipinas in June and should be a strong contender in FM-1.

Aside from the favorites, there will be several international teams joining  the grid. SmartFuels2Race will have an all-Australian driver lineup in their 2-car squad. Then there's Motul – 602PTG's entry from Japan, while BRP Racing's #9 car will be shared by 5 drivers from Singapore.

The GT Radial x 8 Oras ng Pilipinas will take place on December 2 to 3, 2017 at the Clark International Speedway (CIS). Practice will be on Saturday while the race will begin at 8:30 AM on Sunday.
