Honda Wants to Check Your Airbag. Please.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. is urging its customers to take part in the voluntary safety recall of selected City, Jazz, Civic, CR-V, Accord, and Pilot vehicles (partial list here, here, and here) sold in the country from 2001 to 2015 due to a suspected defect in the airbag inflator of the driver side airbag (click here if you want a good reason to have that airbag fixed).

The campaign is part of Honda’s proactive effort to continuously ensure safety of the owners of the affected vehicles to avoid any unfortunate circumstance in the future. To date, no accident or injuries were reported related to this concern in the Philippines.

HCPI President and General Manager, Noriyuki Takakura, appeals to Honda customers to take action and have their vehicle checked right away.

The voluntary safety recall campaign for select models is free of charge and will only take about one (1) hour in any of the 37 authorized Honda Car dealerships and three (3) authorized service outlets nationwide.

Customers can check if their Honda vehicle is affected through the recall webpage. The website has a Chassis Number consisting of 17 digits / Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Check Tool to enable customers to see if their vehicle is affected. Customers can also call the dedicated Honda hotline numbers at 1-800-1000-HONDA (46632) or +63 2 857 7240 between 8am to 5pm from Monday to Friday or through email at update [at] hondaphil.com.

HCPI has been doubling its efforts to get in touch with affected Honda customers.

“We encourage everyone, if you have a friend and family member who owns a Honda vehicle, we urge you to call our hotline numbers or check our website to check if their vehicle is affected. You must take action now,” stressed Noriyuki Takakura.

HCPI aims to repair more than 199,000 possibly affected vehicles in the Philippines. Out of that number, only around 50 percent has complied with this voluntary safety recall.

Customers are encouraged to immediately schedule an appointment at any dealership. Honda Dealers are open from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday and are most willing to accommodate all affected customers.
