2023 Mazda CX-60 To Offer More Than 300 Horsepower

Forget about the spy shots, Mazda has set a date for the official launch of the first member of its Large Product Group family: the 2023 CX-60.

Set for a global launch on March 8, the carmaker released one teaser photo that shows off the intriguing headlight design.

Committed to a multi-solution approach to sustainable mobility, the CX-60 will be Mazda’s first-ever Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).

Confirmed by Mazda, the CX-60 PHEV will combine a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a performance-enhancing electric motor.

Power is expected to exceed 303 horsepower. The carmaker has also said that the new powertrain will “will offer smooth and powerful acceleration giving the driver greater confidence and driving enjoyment in the widest possible range of driving scenarios.”

The Large Product Group is a separate platform from the one used in the Mazda3, CX-30, and the North American exclusive CX-50. It is reported to feature rear-wheel drive as standard as well as longitudinally-mounted engines including a family of inline-6 gasoline and diesel engines.  It will also spawn a three-row version, the CX-80, within two years.
