The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Is A Futuristic Streamliner That Wears A New Logo

After the introduction of the Ioniq 5, Hyundai has revealed the second member of their all-electric family: the Ioniq 6.

Inspired by their Prophecy EV Concept, the Ioniq 6 features a design driven by clean, simple lines and an aerodynamic form. Described as “Emotional Efficiency,” the electrified streamliner has an ultra-low co-efficiency of drag (0.21). Its low nose, active air flaps, wheel gap reducers, optional digital side mirrors, and a wing-inspired spoiler with a boat-tail structure all contribute to this highly efficient number.

The Ioniq 6 also debuts a newly-designed Hyundai “H” logo as well as over 700 “parametric pixel” exterior lighting to add to its visual differentiation.

Inside, the Ioniq 6 is all about “Ethical Uniqueness” which puts into focus the use of sustainable materials to create a truly eco-friendly experience. These include eco-processed leather or recycled PET fabric for the seats, bio PET fabric for the headliner, and even recycled fish net carpeting. Even its paint is derived from vegetable oils and bamboo charcoal.

Sharing the same E-GMP platform as the Ioniq 5 (and Kia EV6), the Ioniq 6 features a completely flat floor enabling designers to stretch the legroom and spaciousness. The driver is treated to a 12-inch digital cluster, while the touchscreen infotainment system uses a 12-inch screen. Hyundai has also opted to remove buttons from the front doors to add more storage, while transparent accents on the crash pad garnish, door map pocket, and lower console all contribute to a heightened sense of spaciousness.

Hyundai has yet to reveal the full mechanical details of the Ioniq 6, however, it’s expected to share the Ioniq 5’s powertrain and batteries. This would mean a choice between either rear- or all-wheel drive. In its most powerful guise, it could make around 302 horsepower and 605 Nm of torque.

The world premiere of the Ioniq 6 is slated in July.
