2023 Toyota Hilux Conquest Gets Thicc, Adds Rear Disc Brakes

Although you can already get a Hilux tastefully modded by Arctic Trucks (the AT35) in Europe or by Toyota New Zealand (Hilux Mako), this isn’t stopping Toyota from adding performance and capability upgrades to its Hilux.

The Hilux Rogue (local market Hilux Conquest) has received a thicc-boy look thanks to its upgraded suspension and wider track package. This, Toyota Australia says, should improve both off- and on-road handling.

The 2023 Hilux Rogue boasts of a track increase of around 140 mm at the front and rear, while the ride height has been bumped up by 20 mm.

To accommodate the track increase, Toyota engineers overhauled the suspension by extending the front suspension arm and front stabilizer bar length and adjusting shock absorber angle to improve efficiency.

At the rear, axle length has been extended, dampers have been moved further out towards the wheels, and for the first time on Hilux, a rear stabilizer bar has been installed to enhance cornering stability and ride comfort.

As a result of the suspension changes, roll rigidity has been enhanced by 20 percent, improving steering feel when cornering and changing lanes.

Stopping power has also been upgraded for the Hilux Rogue, with new rear ventilated disc brakes replacing the existing drum brakes for enhanced braking performance. The new 17-inch front disc brakes have also been enlarged by one inch.

To house the increased track width, wide track overfenders and mudguards have been installed, while the front body extension has also been widened to seamlessly integrate with the front bumper.

Sales of the revamped Hilux Rogue starts by the fourth quarter of 2022 in Australia. It is also reported that Toyota is working on their own Ranger Raptor fighter that’s even more off-road focused.

While there’s no official word on whether other markets such as the Philippines will stand to benefit from these upgrades, there is a good chance given the Australian market also sources its trucks from Thailand. For as long as the upgrades were done at the Thai factory (no official word if it was), it’ll likely form the basis of the regional Hilux GR Sport.

    1. Toyota plays their cards close to their chest, so there's still no word on whether we'll be getting this upgraded model or not.
