Michelin Philippines Introduces Pilot Sport 5 Tire

Michelin Philippines is introducing the latest generation of its high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport family with the new Pilot Sport 5. Targeting sportscars and high-performance sedans, the new tire delivers performance that lasts.

“With the Michelin Pilot Sport 5, Michelin Michelin further strengthens our complete and best overall high-performance Pilot Sport range, with ‘Performance Made to Last’ being our key differentiator. Inspired by motorsports, the tire is perfect for drivers who demand sporty driving performance and expect nothing but the best. What’s more, the Pilot Sport 5 goes one step further in aesthetics, as evidenced by its winning of the 2021 Contemporary Good Design Award – one of the world’s most prestigious international design awards,” says Daesy Natalya, Commercial Director, Michelin Philippines.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 has the following key benefits:
  • Dual Sport Tread Design technology – inspired by motorsports, the tread design has the inner side with large grooves and high void ratio for enhanced wet road traction, and the external side with rigid blocks for better grip on dry roads.
  • Groove Clear – large longitudinal grooves that dump water into wide transversal channels to efficiently divert water.
Moreover, the tire’s overall lifespan has been improved. With its improved hybrid aramid/nylon belt construction, it lasts up to 33.5 percent longer than other premium brands. And throughout its lifespan, it offers exceptional grip and braking performance in both the wet (braking from 80 km/h to 20 km/h, where it stopped 1.4 meters and 4 meters shorter, when new and worn respectively, than other premium brands) and dry (braking from 100 km/h to zero, where it stopped 1.3 meters shorter than other premium brands).

Meanwhile, the MaxTouch Construction also maximizes the Pilot Sport 5’s tire contact with the road, and also helps evenly distribute the forces of acceleration, braking, and cornering.

In terms of style, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 comes with a Premium Touch Sidewall Design that creates a matte-black aesthetic with a velvet-like micro texture, and Wear2Check—an easy-to-find and easy-to-read tread wear indicator designed to facilitate monitoring and to help drivers optimize the longevity potential of their tires.

“This new race-born tire amplifies sport performance made to last – providing throughout its lifespan both driving dynamics with precision, as well as safety. It is a truly ideal tire for those who need first-class experience, and look for aesthetic exclusivity,” concluded Natalya.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 is now available in 53 sizes from 17 to 21 inches ranging from 205/40R17 to 255/35 R21s. Click here for the full sizing chart.
