Ford Philippines's 2015 Explorer Sport Delivers Muscle Car Performance for 7 Adults (w/ Brochure)

Who says having a family ends your dream of buying a muscle car? Well, it may not sport a two-door body, but the new 2015 Explorer Sport sure does come close in giving you muscle car performance wrapped in a very practical body. Alongside the Ford Escape, Ford Philippines unveiled the latest addition to their Explorer family, one that adds EcoBoost technology to the already potent 3.5-liter V6 engine.

Nestled under the Explorer Sport is an EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 that gives a crazy 365-horsepower output at 5,500 rpm and 475 Nm of torque from as low as 3,000 rpm. All this power is transferred to a 6-speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The Explorer Sport features uncompromising all-weather grip with its all-wheel drive system complete with Terrain Management.

Aside from the extra grunt, the Explorer Sport features a more aggressive look thanks to 20-inch machined aluminum wheels, ‘Explorer’ badging on the hood, the signature three-bar grille, blackened mirrors, smoked head- and tail lamps. Inside, the Explorer Sport is distinguished by its Charcoal Black leather interior with contrasting inserts.

Other features of the Explorer Sport include power adjustable pedals, push button start, rear view camera, and a power folding third row. And like the 3.5 V6 Limited+ variant, the Explorer Sport also has two DVD headrests and a Sony Premium Audio System with 12 speakers.

In terms of safety, the Explorer Sport comes equipped with adaptive cruise control, terrain management, collision warning with brake support, speed controls, BLIS, and inflatable rear seatbelts.

The 2015 Explorer Sport joins the line-up at P 2,799,000. It’s now available for reservations at all Ford dealerships nationwide with deliveries starting in November.

Press Release: Ford Philippines Launches High-Performance Explorer Sport

“The Ford Explorer is one of our flagship vehicles in the Philippines, and the Explorer Sport further raises the bar in the premium mid-size SUV segment. We’re confident its new features, technologies and enhancements will create even stronger appeal for customers in this segment,” said Kay Hart, managing director, Ford Philippines.

Great performance, Impressive Look

The Explorer Sport excels in both performance and appearance. Geared for those who seek adventure and action wherever they are, this AWD mid-sized SUV can easily take you from the rush of a city meeting to the thrill of an out-of-town road trip at a moment’s choice.

Making changes to the chassis and suspension for added power, the new Explorer Sport delivers an SUV with great dynamics and performance.  With its sport-tuned springs and suspension, power adjustable pedals and speed controls, the Explorer delivers sporty handling without compromising ride safety and comfort.

The Explorer Sport also has Terrain Management System settings for optimizing increased power and torque equipped for various road conditions. It also comes with Trailer Tow Package Class III, which allows maximum loaded trailer weight up to 2,273 kilograms when properly equipped.

Sportier design elements

The new Explorer Sport builds on the Explorer’s aggressive, sculpted form with subtle cues to differentiate it from other models in the lineup.

With attention-grabbing features including 20-inch machined aluminium wheels and the Explorer badge with Ford’s signature 3-bar grille treatment, this adds to the Explorer’s bold identity statement and confident stance.

Inside, the high-end feel continues. Charcoal Black leather trimmed seating is available with contrasting Sienna inserts.

The new additions to the design give it a sportier and rugged look, fit for customers looking for adventure with performance and style. Whether it is around the city or out of town, the high-performance Explorer Sport is flexible enough to handle any adventure and is spacious enough for the entire family to join in.

Delivering more power without compromise

The new 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 delivers best-in-class power for responsive performance. Combining direct injection of gasoline and turbocharging, the advanced EcoBoost engine delivers up to 365 PS of power at 5,500rpm and 475Nm of torque at 3,000rpm, allowing it to balance power and capability with environment responsibility.

With the Ford Explorer’s 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters and power adjustable pedals, drivers can easily and quickly change gears, providing them with flexible and efficient power across a wide range of engine and vehicle speeds, while saving fuel.

Key smart and safe features that make it unique

The high-performance Explorer Sport continues to harp on comfort and convenience by offering smart features that appeal to the adventurous. These notable smart features include; Remote Keyless Entry, Intelligent Access with Push Button Start, Power Windows, Rear View Camera and PowerFold® Third-Row Seats.

  10. Ford's ecoboost engines have issues in the US. It delivers horsepower undoubtedly when needed, but the estimated fuel efficiency iisn't substantial either. Ford should focus on smaller crossover suv instead. Just my personal opinion.

  11. eliminating the same segment/class qualifier, how do you think this explorer sport 3.5 v6 would compare to the toyota land cruiser lc200 in terms of raw power? while the former beats the latter in terms of hp, the latter also beats the former in terms of torque.

    toyota land cruiser lc200:
    hp: 261hp @ 3400rpm
    torque: 650nm @ 1600rpm

    explorer 3.5 v6 sport:
    hp: 365hp @ 5500rpm
    torque: 475nm @ 3500rpm
