Aside from the all-new 2021 City, Honda Cars Philippines used the occasion of its 30th anniversary celebration to also update its best-selling compact SUV, the CR-V. For 2021, the CR-V gets sophisticated-looking styling along with a host of new safety and convenience features.
Outside, the 2021 CR-V gets a new bumper with a stronger, more angular styling. A new chrome strip runs the length of the lower fascia with bar-type LED fog lamps now becoming standard across the line-up. Towards the side, roof rails and a revised chrome door molding are now standard, while the alloy wheels—either 17 or 18 inches in size—get new designs. At the back, dark-tinted taillights complete the changes. For 2021, the top-of-the-line SX variant is differentiated by its panoramic sunroof, sequential turn signal lights, and power tailgate with kick sensor.
Inside, the refreshed CR-V is barely changed. Just like before, the sole gasoline variant remains a 5-seater, while diesel engines accompany the 7-seater variants. Leather seats are now standard across the range, with the SX getting the added benefit of 8-way power adjust for the driver and 4-way power adjust for the front passenger. For infotainment, all but the base V variant gets a 7-inch display audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, only the SX gets 8 speakers and the added convenience of a wireless charger.
Powertains for the 2021 CR-V remain unchanged as well. The sole gasoline variant is powered by a 154 horsepower, 189 Nm of torque 2.0-liter SOHC i-VTEC engine mated to a CVT gearbox, while the diesel variants continue with the 1.6-liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engine making 120 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque mated to a 9-speed automatic.
In terms of safety, the 2021 CR-V adds more features with the Driver Attention Monitor now standard across the line-up. The company’s Honda SENSING—a suite of advanced driver assist system is now available on both the mid-trim S Diesel 2WD and SX Diesel AWD models. Honda SENSING combines features such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. Other safety features include tire pressure monitoring, multi-view reverse camera, and front and rear parking sensors.
