All-New 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe To Launch With 281-Horsepower Turbo Power In The Philippines

Hyundai Motor Philippines is adding the all-new, fifth-generation Santa Fe to its line-up by the first quarter of 2024. This has been confirmed via an official media preview.

No official details or image pricing were revealed yet, but there were two colors shown during the preview: Ocado Green and Terracotta Orange. Both are the same variants and have high-gloss exterior trims and intricate 21-inch high-gloss black alloy wheels indicating their high-trim positioning.

Dimensionally, the all-new Santa Fe measures in at 4,830 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height. Its wheelbase has grown to 2,815 mm—one of the the longest in the mid-sized SUV segment—to deliver “terrace-like” space.

The Philippine market model will come with two engines: the first is the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine (Theta III) mated to an 8-speed automatic. This version provides 281 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque. Its HTRAC all-wheel drive system helps it deliver a 0-100 km/h time of 8 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.

An electrified 1.6-liter turbocharged (Gamma III 1.6T GDI HEV) mated to a 6-speed automatic will also be made available later after the official launch. This hybrid makes a combined 230 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, enough for a 0 to 100 km/h time of 9.5 seconds and a 190 km/h top speed.

The all-new Santa Fe’s boxy shape and distinctive silhouette are derived from its long wheelbase and wide tailgate area. The front features a high hood and H-shaped headlights and sharp fenders. The H-shaped headlights integrate with the H-motif lower front design as well.

The interior itself comes in Obsidian Black or Supersonic Gray (based on the units on display), both in a 7-seater configuration. Regardless of interior color, it does integrate a Panoramic Curved Display with dual 12.3-inch screens, changeable interior lighting, and soft leather seats. Standard features include dual wireless charging, multi-zone climate control (with ceiling-mounted vents for the second- and third rows of seats), dual pane sunroof, and powered front seats with a Relaxation Seat for the driver. Towards the second row, it has rear side sun blinds and a one-touch sliding mechanism for easy entrance to the third-row.

Hyundai dealerships nationwide are not yet accepting official reservations, but they are taking a list of interested parties who want to be the first in line for the striking mid-sized SUV. With a launch date happening between January to April, could the 2024 Santa Fe officially break cover by the Manila International Auto Show? Stay tuned.

    1. In terms of looks, maybe. The Santa Fe isn't built to go off-road like a Defender. The Defender will face competition against the upcoming Lexus GX/Toyota Prado.

  4. I love boxy SUVs but there's something off with the design for me. Maybe the overhangs and that rear end..

    1. Probably due to the too low placement of the tail lights.

  5. Hyundai should have made this an entirely different model with off-road aspirations. The core of the Santa Fe is crossover format, family accommodations within a sleek package. Or are they transitioning to "rugged" now and leaving previous Sante Fe owners to move to the Sorento?
