Geely Celebrates 6 Years In The Philippines As It Commits To The Long Road Ahead

In just six years, Geely has navigated challenges, change, and rapid growth to establish itself as one of the Philippines’ most closely watched automotive brands. From fewer than 10 dealerships at launch to a strong and growing presence nationwide today, and with a base of over 30,000 Filipino owners, Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) marked its sixth anniversary last September 25 with a clear message: resilience, gratitude, and a commitment to the long road ahead.

Since entering the market in 2019 under a different distributor, Geely has steadily expanded its footprint and gained traction with Filipino families through models like the Coolray, and the Okavango. Sales momentum has been matched by network expansion, with dealerships now present across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The brand also enters a new phase this year as Geely Philippines begins operating directly as a subsidiary of Geely Auto Group. The move reflects stronger support from headquarters and provides the local team with a firmer foundation to sustain growth, strengthen dealer partnerships, and deliver consistent care to customers nationwide.

Geely’s sixth anniversary is not only a milestone to celebrate but an opportunity to give back. To thank its customers, Geely has introduced nationwide initiatives such as rolling back the price of the new Coolray and offering discounts on the Okavango Elite.

The anniversary also highlights Geely’s appreciation for its nationwide dealer network, which has quadrupled in size since 2019. Recognizing their critical role in growth, GMP has committed stronger sales and marketing support to help dealers meet rising demand and deliver a consistent customer experience across the country. By putting greater resources behind its partners, Geely ensures that its success is shared at every level.

“Our progress has never been ours alone,” said Sylva Yu, CEO of Geely Motor Philippines. “It belongs to the customers who chose us, and the dealers who carried our name in their communities. This anniversary is about standing with them as we move forward together.”

    1. Geely Philippines won't give up that easily in the Philippine market as they plan to sell more gas powered,PHEVs and EVs locally.
They're mostly into decent sales numbers and good profits over high sales volumes but very low profit margins that BYD Philippines is doing in the Philippine market

    2. Where are you getting your 70% drop from? Geely left CAMPI back in mid 2024 (because of their transition in management) so I don't know where one can get their sales figures to give proper comparison.

  3. At present, among Chinese brands, only MG and BYD are enjoying healthy sales in the Philippines...

  4. The only way for geely to recover is to pour out investment to stabilise and reinforce customer service and parts supply chain. No amount of pa pogi yada yada will bring back customers confidence and trust back to the brand. Its so basic.

    1. They already did that. It was even reported in an article here early this year. It was amusing to notice that complaints about parts on places like facebook droppped heavliy shortly after. Whether that's enough for some people, I can't say until we see their sales numbers again.

    1. Yes. We still love our cars. Geely cars are solid. Real value for money. The ride is very european. And the tech is topnotch. Its a lot better than my japanese car.

    2. Geely's ride and drive quality is probably better than those of compatriots MG and GAC and Ford's JMC cobranded nameplate. And to an extent even Toyota. I had 3 Toyotas in the past 12 years. My Oka is 4.5 years old and no major problems so far.

    3. That's good to hear. A lot of Geely diehards I know have been eerily quiet ever since Geely Marites went dark.
