Legado Motors Highlights Merits Of Going EV For TNVS And Taxis

Legado Motors Inc., the distributor of Dongfeng Motors in the Philippines, is flaunting the merits of going all-electric for TNVS and taxi operations in the country.

During a business forum that brought together taxi operators, partners, fleet owners, and soon-to-be-owners, Mr. Giovanni Frias, Vice President for Operations of Dongfeng Motors Philippines, presented a detailed EV vs ICE comparison. According to Frias, EV taxis can save up to P 612,470 per year in fuel expenses compared to traditional internal combustion engine vehicles.

Mr. Frias invited a representative from TaxiKo, a ride-hailing company owned by Legado Motors, to share his driving experience with the Dongfeng E70 Pro. The TaxiKo representative shared that he recounted his journey from Infanta, Quezon via the Marilaque Highway, tackling steep inclines and turns. Despite driving continuously from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM, the E70 Pro still retained 30 percent battery power, demonstrating its endurance, power, efficiency, reliability, and range.

The event was also graced by representatives from delivery and ride-hailing platforms such as Lalamove and Xpress App, who expressed interest in integrating electric vehicles into their partner fleets.

Through this event, Legado Motors Inc. wants to become a top-of-mind brand for EV TNVS and taxi operators in the Philippines through Dongfeng Motors Philippines.

“Through initiatives like this, we continue to empower transport operators to make informed and forward-thinking business decisions,” said Mr. Brennan Nathan Lim, Deputy CEO of Legado Motors Inc. “Our goal is not only to promote cleaner mobility but also to ensure long-term business success for our partners.”

  1. EVs seem good for taxis. But don't know later when the batteries can no longer hold charge. When thinking about long term, EVs are not so good....especially when the batteries die.

    1. The batteries are already built to last the lifetime of the car. A lot of the old high mileage EVs in the second hand market still run around 90+% battery life. It may take decades for an average battery to drop to below 60% (and for some people, they might still manage with that). And that's for old tech. New battery tech is even more promising. CATL has a cutting-edge battery with a million km warranty.
