Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has dropped a big surprise by confirming that its new 7-seater compact SUV, the Destinator, is arriving in the country this November 20. Before that, the carmaker has already confirmed several of its key features including the brand’s first-ever in-car telematics.
First revealed in its LTO homologation papers, and now confirmed by Mitsubishi Motors, both variants of the Destinator—GLS and GT—receive a turbocharged 1.5-liter MIVEC 4-cylinder. The 4B40 engine makes 163 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. It features a water-cooled intercooler and an Atkinson combustion cycle for improved fuel efficiency. This is mated to a CVT driving the front wheels. It incorporates Mitsubishi’s Active Yaw Control system to unlock five drive modes, including Tarmac, which is akin to a Sport mode, for the first time.
Measuring in at 4,680 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height, the Destinator comes with a generous 2,815 mm wheelbase. Design-wise, it gains the Xforce’s upright Dynamic Shield front-end as well as T-shaped head- and taillights. 18-inch wheels with 225/55R18 tires are standard (again, confirmed by its LTO paperwork). The grille itself is a layered design with a honeycomb inner grille beneath a transparent acrylic surface. The rear, meanwhile, showcases the Hexaguard Horizon motif that is also used in the Xforce. It also sports a panoramic sunroof—the first Mitsubishi model to do so, at least in this price range.
So far, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines is mum about the Destinator’s interior features, but in other markets it receives a fully digital 8-inch gauge cluster, a 12.3-inch Smart-link Display Audio touchscreen infotainment screen, dual zone climate control with ceiling-mounted vents, customizable 64-color ambient lighting, and seats treated with a heat reflective coating. There are also USB Type A and C ports all the way to the third row. For added comfort, it has an electronic parking brake with auto hold and available hands-free power tailgate. And yes, it receives a bespoke tuned Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium speaker system.
Here is the interesting bit. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has confirmed that the Destinator will be the first model in the country to come with Mitsubishi Connect—the brand’s very own advanced telematics system. This enables owners to check the condition and control certain functions of the the Destinator via a dedicated smartphone app.
The public is invited to check out the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator during its public launch slated on November 20, 2025 at the Ring Garden, Ayala Malls Manila Bay. A weekend-long test drive event will be held at the nearby ASEANA City Concert Grounds from 10 AM to 9 PM on November 20, and 10 AM to 10 PM from November 21 to 23, 2025.

Turbo gasoline for a 7 seater, probably less 10km/L. why bother to buy instead of montero sport
ReplyDeleteSome people can afford gas.
DeleteOMG Karen! You can't just tell people that you can afford gas!
DeleteDiesel are much more expensive these days than gasoline.
DeleteOlat na naman ito.
ReplyDeleteIf they will price it right, lower than the innova zenix. It would sell well. There aren’t many people buying the zenix v. So mitsubishi ph should not repeat the pricing mistake they did with the xforce
ReplyDeleteWhy do i always read this as Detonator?...
ReplyDeletea Burn Your Dream fan
DeleteThis is gonna be fun especially for the ASEAN market.
ReplyDeleteSince it’s gonna be made in Indonesia, and have a unibody and front wheel drive, this will have a more comfortable ride than other 7 seater Mitsubishi like the Montero Sport.
ReplyDeleteGasolina?
ReplyDeleteYes gasoline. Think of it like turbocharging an engine of the XForce.
DeleteThe XForce doesn't seem to be selling well then here comes the bigger version of XForce. Let's see what it can do to the local market.
ReplyDeleteThe XForce's main problem was the price. Let's see if Mistubishi learned a lesson from that.
DeleteSales of the XForce are fine as they mostly promote and sell the more affordable GLS variant priced at 1.2 Million Pesos.
DeleteThe GLS is 1.370m on their website right now. Have they been running big discounts (-170k)? If so, that explains the better sales. Otherwise, point still stands that they priced it too high to begin with.
DeleteDestinator to xforce, "I am your father"
ReplyDeleteIt needs to be priced right. Setting aside the current pricing of Xforce, I'd say this will sell well if priced around P1.4M to P1.5M+. Anything higher, better get a Montero or Fortuner instead, or even an Innova depending on your taste and budget.
ReplyDeleteMost likely priced at 1.6 Million Pesos up to 1.8 Million Pesos
DeleteDestinator is the seven seater version of the XForce but with turbocharged engine came from the Eclipse Cross
Pricing this vehicle is tough since the XForce is already 1.5M.
ReplyDeleteHow much? Pls send price
ReplyDeleteIf they price this at 1.8M that would be entry level midsize SUV territory. Most Filipinos would choose the familiarity and the affordability of a diesel.
ReplyDeleteDestinator GT is gonna be priced at 1.8 Million Pesos which is just fine as it's turbocharged and with ADAS
DeletePrices of entry level versions of next generation PPV SUVs like the next generation Montero Sport and Fortuner are gonna breach the over 2 Million Peso price range
Hybrid cars are way better than this underpowered Detonator, I mean destinator...
ReplyDeleteYou mean (BYD) or Burn Your Dream, right?
DeleteHello, corny acronym person!
DeleteEven as you joke on BYD, if they are the first thing you think of for hybrids (compared to any other brand out there), then BYD is definitely living rent free in your head. lol
DeletePricing may have to be (in increasing prices) XForce, Xpander, Destinator then Montero Sport. XForce SRP may have to adjust accordingly otherwise, this forces Destinator to be priced close to 1.6 to 1.8M. This will be near MS Diesel GLS (~1.9M).
ReplyDeleteThe new Montero, when it launches, will cost much more than the current price. So this DST's price will fit in Montero's current price point.
ReplyDeleteI think the Destinator will effectively replace the GLX and GLS variants of the Montero Sport in the lineup when the next generation Montero Sport (rumored to drop the 'Sport' and be called just the Montero/Pajero) will be more upmarket than before. I think the Destinator will be oriced from PHP1.5M to Php1.8M, while the next gen Montero/Pajero will start at PHP2.2M for the base model 4x2 and PHP2.9M for the top of the line 4x4.

ReplyDeleteId still preffered a traditional shift feel effect of an AGS tranny than the rubber band feel effect of a CVT.
ReplyDeleteAGS are unreliable and expensive to maintain
DeleteIf the price comes closer to P1.9M, then i would rather buy a 2026 Toyota Zeniz Q 2.0 gas CVT hybrid
ReplyDeletePHP1.8M, nah, better buy Toyota Zenix Q (PHP1.9M)
ReplyDeleteZenix Q Hybrid is at 2 Million Pesos now
DeleteDestinator GT is priced at 1.9 Million Pesos and can be bought at 1.8 Million Pesos
Hindi match. The small ATIV uses a 1.5 Li gas engine. This big body SUV also uses a 1.5 Li gas engine. At the very lease, the Destinator should have a big hybrid setup to help.
ReplyDeleteDestinator uses a 1.5 liter turbocharged gasoline engine which is the same engine used in the Eclipse Cross SUV.
DeletePower and performance of it is similar to a 2.5 Liter engine
MMPC will introduce and sell a GLX variant of the Mitsubishi Destinator next month and its priced at 1.4 Million Pesos..Mid level GLS variant is priced at 1.6 Million Pesos while the high end GT variant is priced at 1.9 Million Pesos
