Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has dropped a big surprise by confirming that its new 7-seater compact SUV, the Destinator, is arriving in the country this November 20. Before that, the carmaker has already confirmed several of its key features including the brand’s first-ever in-car telematics.
First revealed in its LTO homologation papers, and now confirmed by Mitsubishi Motors, both variants of the Destinator—GLS and GT—receive a turbocharged 1.5-liter MIVEC 4-cylinder. The 4B40 engine makes 163 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. It features a water-cooled intercooler and an Atkinson combustion cycle for improved fuel efficiency. This is mated to a CVT driving the front wheels. It incorporates Mitsubishi’s Active Yaw Control system to unlock five drive modes, including Tarmac, which is akin to a Sport mode, for the first time.
Measuring in at 4,680 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height, the Destinator comes with a generous 2,815 mm wheelbase. Design-wise, it gains the Xforce’s upright Dynamic Shield front-end as well as T-shaped head- and taillights. 18-inch wheels with 225/55R18 tires are standard (again, confirmed by its LTO paperwork). The grille itself is a layered design with a honeycomb inner grille beneath a transparent acrylic surface. The rear, meanwhile, showcases the Hexaguard Horizon motif that is also used in the Xforce. It also sports a panoramic sunroof—the first Mitsubishi model to do so, at least in this price range.
So far, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines is mum about the Destinator’s interior features, but in other markets it receives a fully digital 8-inch gauge cluster, a 12.3-inch Smart-link Display Audio touchscreen infotainment screen, dual zone climate control with ceiling-mounted vents, customizable 64-color ambient lighting, and seats treated with a heat reflective coating. There are also USB Type A and C ports all the way to the third row. For added comfort, it has an electronic parking brake with auto hold and available hands-free power tailgate. And yes, it receives a bespoke tuned Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium speaker system.
Here is the interesting bit. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has confirmed that the Destinator will be the first model in the country to come with Mitsubishi Connect—the brand’s very own advanced telematics system. This enables owners to check the condition and control certain functions of the the Destinator via a dedicated smartphone app.
The public is invited to check out the all-new Mitsubishi Destinator during its public launch slated on November 20, 2025 at the Ring Garden, Ayala Malls Manila Bay. A weekend-long test drive event will be held at the nearby ASEANA City Concert Grounds from 10 AM to 9 PM on November 20, and 10 AM to 10 PM from November 21 to 23, 2025.

DeleteThe GLS is 1.370m on their website right now. Have they been running big discounts (-170k)? If so, that explains the better sales. Otherwise, point still stands that they priced it too high to begin with.

ReplyDeleteIt needs to be priced right. Setting aside the current pricing of Xforce, I'd say this will sell well if priced around P1.4M to P1.5M+. Anything higher, better get a Montero or Fortuner instead, or even an Innova depending on your taste and budget.

DeletePricing may have to be (in increasing prices) XForce, Xpander, Destinator then Montero Sport. XForce SRP may have to adjust accordingly otherwise, this forces Destinator to be priced close to 1.6 to 1.8M. This will be near MS Diesel GLS (~1.9M).

I think the Destinator will be oriced from PHP1.5M to Php1.8M, while the next gen Montero/Pajero will start at PHP2.2M for the base model 4x2 and PHP2.9M for the top of the line 4x4.

Hindi match. The small ATIV uses a 1.5 Li gas engine. This big body SUV also uses a 1.5 Li gas engine. At the very lease, the Destinator should have a big hybrid setup to help.
