Forget the Prelude, the Super-One shaping up to be the more exciting electrified vehicle coming from Honda this year. And head of its debut later in the year, the carmaker released the first few pics of the production version along with some new info.
First up, the design. The production Super-One stays close to the prototype Honda showed at the Japan Mobility Show with the blistered fenders and all that. However, in its transition from show car to showroom car, the Super-One adds vertical air vents on the front and rear bumper, and its wheels have been reduced from 16 to 15 inches.
That said, Honda is premiering a new color for the Super-One: Boost Violet Pearl. This new color is said to be inspired by blue jets—a rare form of lighting that shoots upwards into the upper atmosphere instead of down towards the ground.
Inside, the Super-One features front sport bucket seats and a steering wheel equipped with a “Boost” button. There’s also a 7-inch LCD display and a tach. The tach tells us exactly that this souped-up kei car will be getting fake shifts (7 virtual gears) like the Prelude. There’s also the possibility of simulated engine sounds pumped through the 8-speaker Bose sound system.
So far, Honda has kept mechanical details of the Super-One secret, but reports say that when Boost mode is engaged, it will produce peak outputs of 95 horsepower (70 kW) and 162 Nm of torque—more than the kei car limited N-One e’s 64 horsepower, 162 Nm of torque outputs. This makes sense as the Super-One is destined to be global model with several markets in Europe and Asia already confirmed (sadly, the Philippines isn’t one of them).
As for charging, Honda has said it will accommodate DC fast charging (20 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes). Its likely battery size is shared with the N-One e at 29.6-kWh, but because of its increased output, will probably have less than the regular kei car’s 295-kilometer WLTP range.
Should Honda Cars Philippines consider bringing in the Super-One?
