Toyota Motor Philippines capped off a great 2025 by cornering a 46.6 percent share of new car sales. While the company already issued its year-end report card, it still begs the question: what models did the heavy lifting? Well, wonder no more as the country’s number one car brand just shared the entire breakdown of its 229,447 units sold last year.
Before getting to the breakdown, some quick analysis first:
- The Top 5 best-selling nameplates—the Vios, Avanza, Hilux, Hiace, and Wigo already contributed 50.5 percent of Toyota Motor Philippines’ sales last year.
- While passenger car sales showed a huge 23.1 percent year-on-year decline, Toyota still managed to keep its leadership thanks in large part to the Vios which moved 27,811 units. The Wigo (19,063 units), and the newly launched Ativ (1,027 units) completed the podium places.
- Contrary to popular belief, vehicles built in collaboration with Daihatsu didn’t account for most Toyota Motor Philippines’ sales. In fact, combined—the Avanza, Wigo, Raize, Veloz, Yaris Cross, Liteace, Rush, and Ativ—made up just 38.74 percent.
- Shifting consumer preference towards tall-riding SUVs and crossovers was clear. Compact and large sedan sales are now niche as the Camry and Corolla Altis combined accounted for just 714 units (0.31 percent) of sales. This is compared to, say, the Corolla Cross and RAV4 that moved a combined 5,740 units, enough for 2.5 percent share of all Toyotas sold in the Philippines last year.
- The trio of Gazoo Racing models moved a total of 236 units in 2025, wherein the GR Yaris was the best-seller with 144 units sold.
- Lexus sold 1,852 units last year where in the Top 3 nameplates being the Lexus NX (735 units), Lexus RX (312 units), and the Lexus LM (296 units).
- With Toyota launching the both the bZ4X and the GR Corolla in December, naturally, it only showed that two samples each were sold in 2025. Expect these numbers to grow modestly this year.

DeleteThe subcompact to compact 5 seater crossover segment is saturated with very many options. The Toyota Yaris Cross is still likely the best selling in its class even with less sales.

It's surprising that the Zenix sold more than the Yaris Cross and Corolla Cross. Also shocking to see Corolla Altis sales decrease by more than half year-over-year (438 in 2024 vs 204 in 2025). Curious to know if Honda sold more Civics last year.

ReplyDeleteYes, not yet. The future Vios is the Ativ (DNGA). If sedans will continue to sell in PH, eventually, majority of TMP sales could be DNGA cars.
The future Innova is the Zenix, but has lackluster showing.
They need to make major updates to the Fort, Raize and Rush to make their stats rise further. Or maybe the LC FJ will be the future Fort?
Looks like Vios and Innova won't be going away anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteYou said Daihatsu based Toyotas is 37%+ If we add in Daihatsu Gran Max (Toyota LiteAce), then total will be near 40%. It is still low and not majority of TMPs local market among Toyota vehicles.

ReplyDelete1. That's a lot of Avanzas sold (and that doesn't include the Veloz yet -- which is basically a feature packed version of the Avanza). Shows that a lot still love 7-seater MPVs that costs around P1 million or below. The current gen Avanza is also a significant improvement over the previous gen especially on the design standpoint (and also in sales numbers? I don't remember the previous gen Avanza being sold at this number or being in the Top 5)
2. Can't believe they sold more Zenix than the Yaris Cross. I get that they're a different types of car, but given how much more the Zenix cost (Zenix base model costs more than the Yaris Cross TOTL), this is still impressive.
3. The Tamaraw outselling the Innova is another thing that impressed me. Again -- different car types and target customer, but it shows that the Tamaraw is the long awaited answer of Toyota for businesses and hauling purposes.
4. Sad to see that the sales of Corolla Altis, a well known Toyota model, is very low now (Even outsold by the RAV4 and Camry, which costs more). I guess the price doesn't really match the features it provide, as well as the preference of car buyers nowadays is on crossovers now, which is the Corolla Cross.
Again -- just my thoughts on the breakdown above. Looking forward for the changes for 2026.

ReplyDeleteToyota separate the sales number of vios and ativ, innova diesel and innova zenix, avanza and veloz while Mitsubishi posted the sales of xpander + xpander cross as xpander. Number 1?

DeleteIt is true, however. Mitsubishi bunched the Xpander and Xpander Cross sales together much like Hyundai has with the Stargazer and Stargazer X.

Xpander and Xpander Cross are basically the exact same car. Just like how Hilux and Hilux Conquest have different face but are basically the same; the same also goes to Fortuner G/V vs Fortuner LTD. It makes sense to bunch up the Xpander and Xpander Cross together; Xpander Cross is an upper trim Xpander.
DeleteInnova and Innova Zenix are completely different cars. Vios and Vios Ativ are also completely different.
However, dapat talaga iconsolidate ng Toyota yung Avanza and Veloz into one. It is just like the Xpander and Xpander Cross. The Veloz is basically an upper trim Avanza (in fact, the previous generation top-spec Avanza was called the "Avanza Veloz" wayback 2018 or 2019). It would be the true number one selling vehicle of 2025.
