Chery Auto PH Goes Full Electric With P 1.120M QEV Hatchback (w/ Specs)

Chery Auto Philippines brings back the Q, but as pure electric rear-wheel drive hatchback. With reservations now open at all authorized Chery dealerships, this “cutesy” hatchback comes with a P 1,120,000 price tag.

Known as the QQ3 EV in China, the Chery QEV is a reborn version of Chery’s quintessential small hatchback. Compared to the QQ of old, however, the Chery QEV is a much more sizeable vehicle measuring in at 4,195 mm in length, 1,811 mm in width, and 1,573 mm in height. This puts it in the same category as a typical B-segment hatchback. Yet, it also sports a 2,700 mm wheelbase—easily reach C- or even D-segment sedans.

The Chery QEV has a design concept which Chery says is a “square within round,” pretty tongue-in-cheek all things considered. As a BEV, it doesn’t have a traditional front grille, but uses a rounded lower air intake. It also has semi-hidden door handles and black wheel arch trim. It rides on 17-inch two-tone Star Shield alloy wheels and comes with nifty styling cues such as Q-shaped LED projector automatic headlights and a power tailgate.

The QEV use a rear-mounted and rear-driven 120 horsepower, 115 Nm permanent magnet synchronous motor. It’ll offer 420 kilometers of CLTC range (405 kilometers NEDC) thanks to a 42.7-kWh LFP battery. Charging duties are handled either by AC or DC charging, both with a GBT plug. Interestingly, when using a DC fast charger, it can top up from 30 to 80 percent in as little as 16.5 minutes thanks to a 90 kW charging rate.

Aside from its rear-wheel drive architecture, handling is courtesy of its all-round independent suspension, electric power steering, and four-wheel disc brakes with an electronic parking brake with auto hold.

Inside, the Chery QEV comes with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch Ultra HD central display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, ventilated and heated front seats, and a complete set of advanced driver assist.

    1. There is nothing wrong with GBT plug, if area available is type 2 plug, they can use charging adapter converter.

    2. Gbt plug had it's own advantages over other type of plug, please don't make conclusion crazy.

    3. There's nothing wrong with the standard. It's just a crazy decision because when you go to a charging station, all of them will be CCS2/Type 2 compatible and only half will work with GBT.

Also, most charging stations prohibit the use of adapters.

  2. An auto journalist worth their salt would’ve mentioned that Chery will ultimately sell this with CCS2 instead. There is even a sticker on the display unit (with GBT) at PIMS to this effect.

    1. A commenter could also be more respectful. We're tired trying to give you all these breaking news and compared to all other websites, I'm basically a one-person team covering PIMS. So yeah, we'll get back to you on the final specs but as you pointed out, the PIMS display models aren't the finalized specification yet. That's what Chery told us as well.

    1. clearly, you're not the target audience of this car.
nor the actual cars that can do under 5 seconds, the fact that you're asking that on a wrong article.

  4. This is great. Except for the GBT. I feel that it will be more expensive if it's not GBT. Q's target market wouldn't mind as long as there's an adaptor

  5. If they can price this cheaper than seagull then it'll sure hit the market. Chery by far has the best after sales among all the chinese brands since their revival from the foton distributor. Chinese brands can always have the best quality and innovation but fail to give the best service to their customers once the unit is sold.

  6. Now we have the Aion UT, Chery Q ang Geely EX2. But if you want the best bang for your buck, the Geely EX2 wins. Their Max variant is cheaper compared to those 2.

    1. But for around a 100k Php difference between Geely EX2 and Chery Q, Chery Q is bigger and has a bigger battery as well with around 100 kms more range than the EX2 I believe.

    2. 2 vs 6 SRS airbag is a big deal for a family. Chery wins.
