Past, Present, Future: Honda Never Stops Innovating

Honda is one of the most unique automotive companies out there, unique in the sense that it didn’t start out with business or profit in mind. Honda was born out of passion, started in post-WWII Japan as a small motorcycle shop by Soichiro Honda. Pushing into the 60’s, they eventually moved into cars, each expansion fueled by a passion to build the best of the time, using their engineering prowess.

Throughout the brand's storied history is a list of milestones and firsts for the industry. Soichiro Honda’s headstrong belief that the company should never copy from anyone else has led it to innovate before others. Carrying that mindset, the brand continues to innovate and meet the ever-changing demands of modern mobility.

Just revealed for the Philippines is a new brand logo that harnesses Honda’s past, present, and future. The new design study resembles two outstretched hands, which, according to the brand, are supposed to represent Honda’s readiness to welcome the continuous evolution of mobility, adapt to a changing market, and to augment the possibilities of evolution while still meeting its commitment to customers. This new logo transformation also showcases a dedication to Omotenashi, the Japanese philosophy of true hospitality and service. Honda wants to refine every customer touch point, from online content, dealership visits, and long-term maintenance, to a true seamless and simple experience for all customers.

Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) has always echoed a customer first mindset, having over the years ensured that the Filipino people have gotten the best that the brand has to offer, with a complete lineup from small hatchbacks, sedans, MPVs, and large SUVs. In today’s motoring world Honda has diversified into electrified mobility, adapting popular units like the HR-V, Civic, and CR-V with the e:HEV powertrains. It has even kept to its roots of passion, by introducing the 2-door sports coupe Prelude recently.

Another part of Honda’s commitment has been safety, it’s one of the most staunch advocates of road safety. Famously, the Japanese automaker has publicly stated that by 2030 they plan to help reduce global car accident fatality rates by 50 percent, and a bold goal of cutting by 100 percent by the year 2050. To reach this, the brand has introduced its Honda Sensing safety suite not just in the top-end models, but also for the more mass market cars like the HR-V, City and the BR-V.

Convenience and ease of ownership are some of the core aspirations of new car owners, and we’ve seen technology be used as a convenience tool for car brands. Honda’s proprietary app Honda Connect was designed to be an all-in-one system. It uses smart telematics to give owners information related to safety, security and convenience. App users benefit from features like “find my car”, a collision detection system that contacts emergency services after the airbags deploy, and features like remote locking and vehicle starting.

The diverse models in Honda’s lineup are backed up by one of the most robust warranty packages in the industry, most of the models get a 3-year bumper-to-bumper 100,000 warranty (whichever comes first). New for 2026 is an extended warranty option for the new Prelude and all variants of also new Honda CR-V, owners of these models will now get a 5-year bumper-to-bumper 150,000 (whichever comes first) warranty coverage. As an added bonus, the Prelude e:HEV variants of the CR-V will get an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty as well.

These are just some of the things that define Honda’s Omotenashi approach, and give credence to the two outstretched hands ethos. Honda pays tribute to the past, by staying relevant in the present, but never forgets its engineering roots by innovating for a better mobility future.
