These Toyota Hilux Were Coverted to Manila SWAT's New Urban Assault Vehicle

The Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) headed by President Henry Lim Bon Liong donated 6 brand new SWAT Vehicles to the City of Manila. The Toyota Hilux units were modified by Overland Kings to meet the needs of the Manila Police Department’s Special Weapons Action Team (MPD-SWAT). This is the organization’s way to give back to the community and support the government’s efforts against crime and terrorism.

Dr. Cecilio Pedro, Vice President of FFCCCII handed the keys of the vehicles to Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso during the flag raising ceremony at the Kartilya ng Katipunan Monday morning.  “We are proud to support the local government of Manila and the MPD-SWAT during this time when we need to come together as a nation to face this pandemic,” says Dr. Pedro.  Notably, this donation is in addition to the 20 Toyota Vios patrol vehicles donated by FFCCCII earlier this year which has been very helpful to the MPD.

“Since the early beginnings of this nation, the patriotism and heroism from the Filipino-Chinese community has been very helpful to our nation building. Maraming bayani ng ating bansa ay may dugong Chinese,” exclaims Mayor Isko during the hand over. “We are very grateful for the geneorosity of the FFCCCII” he adds.

The vehicles were outfitted by Overland Kings and DAWG Outfitters with custom equipment such as breaching ladders, steel bumpers and rock sliders, auxiliary lights, fire extinguishers, 12,000-lb winch with remote, snorkel, first aid kit, high lift jack, siren with PA system, rear bench seats, 17” Black Rhino wheels and Nitto Exo Grappler All-Weather Tires. “The inspiration for these builds came from the Israeli and Mexican SWAT teams. We want to hand over a vehicle that’s ready to use and flexible for any sort of operation that the MPD-SWAT might face” says Joel Pedro, Chief Adventure Officer of Overland Kings.

“We chose the Nitto Exo Grappler because of it’s 10-ply rating which can carry heavier loads and also give the SWAT vehicles better traction on any type of terrain.  Our Black Rhino wheels have been tested in off-road terrain all around the country so the MPD-SWAT will surely have no problem fulfilling their mission” says Sam Liuson of Black Rhino Wheels – Philippines.

Since 1954, the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) has been a strong partner of government in nation-building and development. It has channeled its efforts to unite the Chinese-Filipino community, promote the growth of business, and implement social welfare projects to bring forth progress for the whole country. The Federation’s more than 170 member organizations across the Philippines play vital roles in their respective sectors and communities. Its membership is actively engaged in trading, manufacturing, service industry, and other economic activities that help fuel the country’s engine of progress.
