Honda Cars PH is Confident of Weathering the COVID-19 Storm

The economic slowdown brought on by the coronavirus pandemic has severely affected the automotive industry. In spite of this, Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) says they’re equipped to weather the storm.

In a virtual press con commemorating the brand’s 30th anniversary in the Philippines, Atty. Louie Soriano, HCPI’s Sales Division Head and Spokesperson reminded everyone of the challenges that Honda Cars faced locally.

“HCPI faced a lot of challenges in the past 30 years,” recalls Atty. Soriano. “There’s the Asian Financial Crisis, the Thai floods, and the Great East Japan earthquake [the latter two severely affecting the brand’s supply of brand-new vehicles], but throughout these times, we bounced back; this year won’t be any different.”

According to Soriano, he attributes HCPI’s resilience down to its strong core product line-up, and of course, the continued support of the Filipino people.

“The Honda City still remains our best-selling product,” reveals Atty. Soriano. “However, we also noticed a strong shift to our A-segment hatchback, the Brio.”

Admittedly though, the Japanese carmaker did have to re-forecast its sales target for 2020 given the prevailing market conditions, but they’re confident of a continued upswing thanks to two new product offerings which they will reveal to the market for the first time on October 22.

While Atty. Soriano refuses to reveal what these new products are, he says they are products which are responsive to the changing tastes and needs of the Filipino buyer.
