Suzuki PH Launches Refreshed 2022 Swift For P 844K

Suzuki Philippines, Inc., launches the refreshed version of its popular compact hatchback, the Swift.

Now available in a single variant, the GL, 2022 Swift features a refreshed front bumper grille with a studded net pattern for a more modern, sportier look. Inside, an improved audio system with a larger screen (8-inch), soft-touch buttons, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity cap out the changes.

Meanwhile, for added safety, the 2022 Swift GL also comes with reverse parking sensors and camera to help in maneuvering in tight spaces. The New Swift GL CVT comes in color colors: Ablaze Red Pearl, Speedy Blue Metallic, Pure White Pearl, and Mineral Gray Metallic for P 844,000.

Mechanically, the Swift remains unchanged and that means having a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder (K12M) engine under the hood enough for 82 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. The sole gearbox is a CVT driving the front wheels.

“The Swift is one of our products designed to be an everyday companion and a sure standout on the road,” Mr. Keiichi Suzuki, Vice President and General Manager for Automobile shared. “As standards rise, so should the level of our products and services. We are excited to release this improved version of the lovable Swift.”

    1. Dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD. No stability control.

    2. Sad. Stability control should be standard now in all vehicles..

  2. Any chances of a swift sport coming soon?

    1. Likely? No. We did get a stickered Swift though before, so don't be surprised if we'll get something similar in the future.

  3. The Swift is a very good-looking car. I saw last week Swift hatches in blue and red. They really stir emotions

  4. The Swift is a very great car, has a rubberbanding CVT and VVT engine, but the newly-launched Geely Emgrand (yes, only NA engine, and yes, it's not a Susunki) is still a compelling buy. Built on the same platform as the splendid Coolray, plus luxury cabin materials and tech at a very affordable price, the Emgrand challenges both MPVs & subcompact crossovers. Good job Geely.

P.S. Hope Geely will offer in the future a turbocharged Emgrand.

  5. Another overpriced, underspecced Suzuki car. In other territories Suzuki is fully equipped, even it has a different engine and ADAS. In our country, the specs are garbage. It reminds me of how badly-barebones Mitsubishi Mirage G4 is.

PS: Oh look. Geely fanbois plaguing every new post here in Carguide, copy-pasting their comments.

    1. I think he's parodying that one guy who ridiculously compared the emgrand to the civic.

    2. Oh narito si Anonymous China car hater at Asimo China car hater. Buo na kayong 2 ng inyong sariling anti-China car club.

    3. Very funny thing he called me anti-China for calling out fanboyish copy-pasted lip service. Joke's on you.

As much as I admire Geely for their association with Volvo, I can't say much to some robots on their fanbase copy-pasting crap even comparing it to cars which are NOT on the same class. Cry me a river fanbois.

    4. Sabi mo sa ibang posts, ang Geely ay 'Chinese crap', tapos ngayon sasabihin mo 'I admire Geely for their association with Volvo'. Patawa ka.

Mali pa grammar haha. Dapat hindi ka pumasa noon sa basic English.

    5. It is hard not to laugh at ridiculous comparisons. Imagine comparing an emgrand to a civic. Just where in the world do these guys get their comparo ideas.

    6. Funny what this also-anonymous guy at @7:55 PM thinks that I wrote that "Chinese crap" like, I have no idea what he's talking about. Assuming that I and that another-anonymous guy are the same lol. Magbasa ka ulit sir.

Even the comparisons to different car classes (in different price points) are comical, just to sing praises to their brands like some fanbois with rabies. Calling me anti-China due to his antique binary thinking that if you criticize a car brand, then you're automatically an "anti" lol you guys aren't clowns, you are the circus. Internet people are so amusing to watch.

    7. Hahaha you're comical, boss.

    8. lmao, i just made a comment about why it is reasonable to comapre a civic and an emgrand (in the civic article) but it turns he was just trying to sell emgrand, my bad, tho i stand by what i said in the civic article

  7. Suzuki swift is a very nice car, it has connection with driver's emotion. However w/ the pricetag of 844k (plus 50k with other provinces),the plasticky cabin/interior matls, body and door that sound like a tin can and underspecs unit, it won't sell that much. With the segment's competition right now, you may add geely emgrand to that. I love the swift (but I love jimny the most) but with the current pricetag, sorry it's too much!

    1. Suzuki Jimny's pricetag keeps on jacking up with no explanation from Suzuki. (Maybe, with the exception of parts supply increase—even though we are now receiving India-made units and less of those from Japan, and even though if some of the parts are starting to show their age.) It's now all over more-or-less 200k now. I remember Suzuki with a 975k price tag at launch. I love the Jimny as well but the price tag is hard to justify. Same with this Swift with barebones features.

Swift is as good as it gets, but being good isn't enough now, especially with their asking 844k price tag. People are price sensitive at this bracket, every centavos loaned/earned counts.

    2. @Anon 7:50 AM. Exactly. Raize 1.2 E is a better buy since it is more affordable than the this Swift plus the former has already VSC, HSA, etc.

    3. @Anon 7:50 AM. I think some of the Suzuki PH cars are already becoming overpriced. First is the Ciaz, then the ridiculously priced Jimny and right now is the Swift. Their priced are increased for the facelift yet no features are added. Lol.

    4. For the Jimny, Suzuki is taking advantage of the fact that it has no direct competition, that's why they can overprice it to oblivion. But if even just one competitor from a mainstream brand will be introduced, the Jimny will be reducing prices significantly for sure. For the Swift, Suzuki seems to be positioning it more as a Yaris/City Hatch/Jazz competitor, and in terms of pricing it undercuts them for sure. But it is nowhere near as refined, and the much cheaper Brio is just as good in terms of driving dynamics and better equipped as well. I hope Suzuki won't mess up the Celerio pricing.

    5. To Napoleon, and that's why I was disappointed at Suzuki. They're getting slammed by more value-for-money brands (and yes, that includes the ubiquitous Toyota and some Chinese cars like Geely.) Back then few years ago, Ertiga was the bang for the buck, but that was years ago. Suzuki better increase their car's features with their current pricing now or they'll just sit on their laurels about Ertiga being their one of their bestsellers and that's it.

Some Jimny fans might attack me also, but with their current pricing it's so hard to justify now even though I also love Jimny, and to the lesser extent, this Swift. Suzuki better stop being cheapshots and either: price it lower (look at Ciaz, zero features but exorbitant price tag, and also this) or else they better close their car business.

  8. Overpriced, but it is fun to drive especially in manual. FB marketplace is littered with barely used/repossessed units at competitive used price if you want one.

  9. The selling points of the Swift are the design (it really looks good) and driving dynamics. But the price is really too much. One can really consider the Honda Brio instead. It also looks good, the driving dynamics is great, it has the Honda durability and reliability, and is priced much less than the Swift.
