If the Charger Daytona SRT Concept is any indication, the American brand will still be producing an EV that looks like a Dodge and feels like a Dodge.

Moving away from the “boring” paradigm associated with EVs, the Charger Daytona SRT Concept retains many of Dodge’s heritage cues such as the blunt profile and long, wide stance as well as the R-Wing (itself an homage to the original Charger Daytona) which allows air through the front opening to enhance downforce. That said, designers came up with new elements such as a hatchback rear-end.

Powering the Charger Daytona SRT Concept isn’t a HEMI or Hellcat engine, instead it’s the Banshee. This 800-volt (similar to a Porsche Taycan) also packs a rather unique EV “exhaust” system called the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system. Using an amplifier and a tuning chamber located at the back, this EV isn’t near silent. Instead, it can push out a 126-decibel roar equaling the SRT Hellcat.

Moreover, the Charger Daytona SRT Concept comes with a multi-speed transmission and an electro-mechanical shifter (with a pistol-grip shifter). The all-wheel drive concept also has a PowerShot “push-to-pass” feature that temporarily raises the engine output for a quick burst of acceleration.

Inside, the Charger Daytona SRT Concept goes all modern, lightweight, and of course, driver-centric. At the center is a 12.3-inch screen—the largest fitted into a Dodge vehicle, while the 16-inch instrument cluster is curved around the driver. There’s also an 8-by-3-inch heads-up display too. In addition, the interior texture is meant to connect to the exterior, while a panoramic glass roof offers an open-air feel, even to the rear passengers.

For now, the Charger Daytona SRT Concept remains purely a concept, but most of the design and technology will no doubt filter into the all-new, all-electric Charger that’s going to be making its global debut in a few years’ time. The current Dodge Challenger and Charger will end production next year.
